This sounds like the issue I have through the laptop. Seems sped up / strobe light effect almost.
But only when I connect to TV with HDMI. The display on the laptop screen itself is fine.
It's similar with Netflix through the laptop as well. Looks sped up and audio/video can go out of sync too.
So I assumed it was something to do with the laptop graphics card or something (I don't know a whole lot about it)
But when I run through the PC with HDMI (I know the PC has a good graphics card cos my IT savvy mate told me it was) I have no issues at all. Picture is smooth and doesn't give me a headache.

I didn't try it. But quote below was suggested and may help with playback if the issue is HDMI related?

It my be an issue to do with the refresh rate on the tv. Kayo is 50hz the tv may be 60hz? Check out the whirlpool thread for more "tech" info those guys will be able to help far more than most here.

Beat me to saying exactly the same thing.

I'm loving the Apple TV 4K for my streaming needs including kayo. The ffwd/rewind for kayo is clunky on the ATV app but I've not had any sync or dropout issues since I've been using it for a couple of months.

I wouldn't recommend the ATV just for kayo but if you want an integrated interface between netflix, Stan, Amazon prime and FTA apps such as iView and SBS on demand plus the ability to stream content from a network server it's pretty amazing. The only thing I'd like to see included is the foxtel now app.

Was watching the women's golf in Thailand on the weekend and got lots of buffering. Hopefully it was just an aberration.

No, it's in inbuilt platform for some pretty specific smart TVs I believe. An article I found says "Android TV (found on 2019 Sony 4K and OLED TVs) ".

Incorrect, it IS available, it's also on a few "special" set top boxes. Examples include the Nvidia Shield, MiBox etc.

I have a Shield.

The Kayo app on my Shield seems very good so far. Footy is my main concern, so hopefully no issues.

Will try it with the basketball tonight.

This is exactly what I want. It's what I have built into the TV already minus kayo. Absolutely love my Netflix and YouTube buttons.
If remote functionality is clunky on an ATV it might be worth sticking with the PC via HDMI and hope my non android Sony TV eventually release it as an app in a future upgrade. I might be waiting a while.

Hhhmmmmmm......

Used it for the first time last night. Pretty bloody good. Little bit blurry in patches (to be fair though my internet isn't amazing) and only had to slightly buffer once. But overall pretty good.

Watched the JLT last night. Couldn't use my Chromecast as it was an older model. Quality was shit on my laptop most of the time but not sure if that was due to my internet or not.

Ok, I tried watching the cricket last night on Foxtel Now on my dumb Sony TV via my laptop with a HDMI cable.

The viewing part worked just fine. I was able to get a good quality HD stream to my TV. However, my next problem was that everything seemed almost sped up watching it. I’ve watched the cricket on Channel 70 (which is HD) without this issue, so I’m not sure what is different when streaming it.

Googling seemed to indicate it was a setting on the TV that did this to smooth the picture. I tried turning off MotionFlow (which is the setting that smooths the picture) on my Sony TV and, alternatively, setting MotionFlow to high. However, neither change seemed to have much impact.

Any idea how to deal with the issue, or is it just because my TV is 9 years old and can’t deal with the higher definition stream?

I actually had the same problem with the cricket, definitely like someone else said like it was going at 1.2 speed or something. Every other sport was perfect. I'd just put it down to a dodgy stream.

Hmmm, I'll have to watch it again in the future and see if I notice any different. I saw some of the JLT game last night and, while the movement did seem slightly faster than just watching football on FTA, it wasn't a massive difference. Maybe it isn't as noticeable because a football is larger and tends not to move as fast as a cricket ball?

Kayo app is being introduced on smart TVs in the future (like youtube, netflix etc) so that will handy

In the mean time, the Nvidia shield is the best player you can get atm. Super powerful and has 4k Chromecast already built in

I have had no issues and my WiFi wasn't even that great

It is already available, I installed it on my tv three days ago and it works great.

My Chromecast is four years old but all went swimmingly - casted JLT1 from my laptop and the picture was excellent (have NBN) - watched it live. Waiting for the Kayo app to be released for XBox One so I can also watch on larger downstairs tv that is connected to the XBox One. Used to have Foxtel for 15 years - was a waste of money as we mainly watch ABC, SBS or live sport - hardly watched any of the channels we were subscribed to; obviously Foxtel seen the need for Kayo - just a pity some of the subscription fee goes to Rupert Murdoch!

Installed it yesterday on my Sony but haven’t used it yet
Thinking about waiting until round 1 for the 2 week trial
Chances are I’ll drop the sports part of Foxtel now and use Kayo instead Just for the HD factor
