It's pretty common knowledge that he asked Melbourne the question last year and they said no.
Twomey doesn't have a good Freo source
He would have got his news from either Melbourne (relationship with Jason Taylor) or the management of kozzy.
Everything out of his manager and Melbourne for the entire trade period was that he gets a little homesick, but is going nowhere. Every year it's been the same and every year he never requests a trade.
So here are 3 questions:
1. Why would Melbourne trade a player who's contracted for the next 3 years for a very average deal when said player is crucial to the side and any flag hopes ? Especially when said player hasn't requested a trade.
2. Would you ?

I never said he considers a trade yearly. He's never requested one. And more than once he's extended his contract with Melbourne. I said it's reported he gets ''a little homesick'' each year. Clearly it's not a major issue. Until it is.

As I’ve said. It’s entirely possible that Kozzy is entirely happy at Melbourne. But also keen to get home at some point and as such has let that be known to his management.

I think he loved the club that’s why he didn’t try and force a move, especially with the Oliver/Trac drama going on. But I also think that him becoming a father may have changed his perspective on where he wants to live and raise his kids

Sheesh, he didn’t publicly ask for a trade, but that doesn’t mean his management didn’t sound out both parties (Melbourne and Fremantle) to see if there was a chance.

Warner is an interesting watch. Dees every chance to hold Kozzy for another year. Warner may well prefer Freo given where they sit as opposed to west coast. Can’t imagine they’d pass up Warner if he wants in.
This is pretty much what I’ve been saying. Kozzy may be keen to get back but is also happy at Melbourne. So not desperate to get home, knowing he already signed a long term deal.

I wouldn’t say no chance when players leave lots of money on the table every year to stay at club rather then take god father offers from clubs on the bottom.
If everyone was just in it for the cash there would be heaps more player movement.
How’d north go luring big fish with big money the last 5 years.

I guess there’s a difference between requesting a trade officially, and asking you manager to look into it. I don’t believe he officially requested a trade.

Yes it wasn't an official request. The poster trav thinks he 100% wants to stay at Melbourne and this is all freo rumours.
There is obviously something in it. Melbourne obviously want to keep him and he is contracted. He most likely will stay regardless of whether he wants to be traded or not.

There's no reason for them to comment otherwise.
There's inquiring about a potential trade and then formally submitting a trade request. Kozzie never formally submitted a trade request. It's very obvious what happened though.
