I'm just interested in facts, not hearsay from Freo flogs.Just because you don't want it to happen , it doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Now say that 5 times fast.
If Pickett wanted to leave and was held to his contract I'd have no problem. After-all, I don't think he'll end up a one club player.
But he never requested a trade and it was quashed early on by Peter Rhode.
So, to sum up, if he requested a trade and it didn't happen no problem. But he didn't. No problem also.

Pickett's manager could have just mention to the list manager if a trade was possible he would like to get to fremantle and the list manager could have mentioned what the trade would look like and they decided that freo didnt have the assets to satisfy melbournes demands so didnt go any further or the 2 clubs may have actually had a discussion and realised it couldnt get done.

Reckon theres a good chance Fremantle know they could have the pick of either Bobby Hill or Kozzie Pickett in October.
Great problem to have and can pair them up with Shai Bolton.

I guess it’s basically up to Warner. If Jackson was unbothered by where he went we’d have got a better deal from west coast. So realistically it’s a players market. Always will be.
It would be much simpler for the Eagles to obtain Warner if Reid asked for a trade.
They would get more for Reid than what they would have to give up for Warner.
If there is any inclination of Reid leaving, its in West coasts best interest that its at the end of 2025.
Agreed but i think the Sydney/West Coast connections are super strong.
Don Pyke, Kieran Jack etc all doing heavy work on Warner already.
Its still pretty simple to get Warner while keeping Reid too. A top 5 pick, which we more than likely get goes very close to getting it done
Eagles have a ton of picks to play with already
Add in Warner and some quality young WA talent around him and they are away.

Statistically one of the best players in the comp already and is 23 years old.
If im Sydney i want two top 10 picks and steak knives.
Bolton just went for 10 and 18

Not all first rounders are equal. Pick 10 is already out of the pointy end and 18 is almost a second round pick. A solitary pick from 1-3 is more valuable than that. If the Eagles have pick 3-5, I could see that another first round pick, but with a later first coming back, as being enough.
The measure was 2x top 10s and steakknives in the original quote, I reckon thats probably right

People don't want to accept reality
He will be uncontracted but when your 23 and being offered well over 1 million a year from multiple clubs then west coast will have to pay in draft capital accordingly.
He will actually be 24 at the time.
Sydney dont have leverage here mate, hes OOC. If a great offer of a 2025 top 5 pick is on the table they wont be able to ask for another top 10 pick.
If the Eagles had pick 8 and 9 then sure those 2 picks get it done comfortably, but a top 5 pick, lets use pick 3 for example, is worth just about as much as those 2 picks combined.
Its a far better offer than anything Freo could offer

West coast give: Pick 2, 2026 first round pick, 2024 Round 2 pick (Hawthorn)
West Coast get: Chad Warner, 2024 Round 2 pick (Sydney)

Didnt realise Warner was actually Chris Judd, my bad.
Pick 2/3 and a f2 maybe for both Warners.
Bolton+14 while heavily contracted went for 10+11+18, lets call that pick 5 value roughly
Warner is a better player but is also OOC, so that top 2/3 pick is close enough
