Reckon we're a 60-40 chance against the Hawks, will be a very tight game. Reckon Geelong in Geelong shouldn't hold any fear after last season and the fact they've dropped off quite a bit this year - Friday night notwithstanding.

Pies is a huge chance to stamp our premiership credentials well and truly.

Well it actually depends on who we beat, If we beat both Collingwood and Hawthorn it makes a much bigger difference than if we were to beat the Bulldogs and Geelong, it may be enough to for a top 2 finish. The Geelong game is looming as the toughest of the last 4.

Yes I agree with this. I can't see us beating geelong in round 23 but think we're a chance against pies and hawks in sydney. I'm assuming we'll beat the doggies, which could be dangerous.

A top 2 finish would be fantastic so we really need to beat the pies this week to pave the road for 2 home finals :)

Go swans.

Does anyone else feel like from the games we have coming up (aside from the Dogs), the Collingwood one - if ignoring our recent history with them - is the most winnable? Hawthorn in Sydney scares me more than Collingwood at ANZ, because Hawthorn are an inform side.

Yes definitely. I'm almost putting collingwood down as a win (that's how confident i am). The hawks will be very hard but possible. I can't see us beating the cats in geelong.

We're three wins clear of West Coast (5th) and Geelong (6th) with only 4 games to play.

We play the bulldogs (15th) in two weeks who we last beat by 92 points.

It will take a miracle for us to miss the top 4.

Furthermore, I'm not quite sure if Adelaide will get up against Freo as Freo will most definitely go into the game determined (Fighting for the 8th spot).

lol @ Essendon. Supporters were so cocky calling me a 'stupid Sydney fan' and to 'stick to rugby' for saying they'd probably drop out of the 8 after they lost against StKilda. Looks like it'll come to pass. Haha

This will probably sound lame but I am content to finish merely Top 4 given our forthcoming opposition, but also given that we've always been just outside of the 4 in recent years. I see it as this at present..

Collingwood is a 55% victory.
Hawthorn is a 50% victory.
Geelong is a 55% victory.

I have a lot of faith that we can win at least one. I'll be at the two home games and I will be devastated if we lose both.

If we defeat Collingwood at ANZ I think that will be all we need, confidence wise to have a good finals series.
The Hawthorn game wont hurt our finals chances much but obviously if we lose that it will have to be close.
As for Geelong, I believe we will finish what we started last year. Obviously the best result for us would have been Adelaide losing to Essendon the other night to secure a top 2 finish for ourselves. None the less, it is year of the Swan.

I'm actually liking our chances for the Hawks game almost the most, they are at their most impressive when they are playing their high possession and pretty outside football with comfortable leads. Put pressure on and break them down man on man with congestion at the SCG and I am quietly confident we can expose them (again). Should have Reid back too.

Would be liking this weekends game more if we had Reid but still think we can do it.

I'm quite the pessimistic person. I had us on 14-8 prior to the season begining so they've already surpassed that prediction. However I think our only guaranteed win is the Bulldogs.

However, i feel 50/50 on the Collingwood and Geelong games whilst i think we'll lose the Hawthorn game. I know, i know, we beat them in Tasmania earlier in the year, but they were woeful that day and were actually in front in the last quarter.

I see Malthouse (should that be Shithouse) has come out and claimed that we dont deserve to be top of the ladder
Longmire refused to bite when given the right of reply to criticism from ex-Magpies coach Mick Malthouse, who suggested the Swans don't deserve to be atop the ladder and are only there due to a friendly draw

Longmire responds
"We don't come in here on a Monday, look at Mick Malthouse's comments and throw the world upside down and do the review completely different because of it," he said.
"He's entitled to his opinion and a lot of people think he's right in that and that's fine. It doesn't worry me and it doesn't worry the players.
"I don't completely disagree with Mick - we've still got to improve and I've said that every week."

quote taken from other thread but thought the post had more relevance here;
I don't think AAMI will be awful for you either... not good, but not awful. Freo were competitive for most of the game and we're not even in the eight, and were missing a few key players. If you guys are real contenders (and I hope you are), then you should be ok. Your style isn't all that different to ours and you have better cattle.

I tend to feel the same way, would rather Crows at AAMI than Hawks or Collingwood at the G round 1. All we have to do achieve this is win against the Dogs and lose against Hawthorn.

Win against the Dogs and lose against Hawks and then we are a lock at 4th place and Cats game becomes dead rubber for us, then all we have to do is beat Crows at AAMI in round 1 and we go straight to a home prelim - easy right? :D

Win against the Hawks and then pressure becomes on to beat the Cats to retain top spot - should we then lose against the Cats we finish 3rd and face Collingwood in Melbourne week 1.

It sounds crazy, but with the Crows soft draw it could almost be beneficial to finish 4th. Beat Hawks and Cats and finish 1st then we have to play Hawks again but at ANZ round 1.

Would we rather play Crows at Aami or Hawks at ANZ round 1?

I'd prefer we just keep winning as many games as is possible but playing Adeliade in week 1 certainly isn't a terrible punishment for dropping to 4th.

Or we could just win the remaining 3 H&A matches and finish on top! Who's to say it's not possible?

It's extremely possible :) pretty over the moon that we are pretty much a lock for the top 4, been a while since we have had the luxury of the double chance!
