Glad somebody finally picked up on it :p

I was a bit late, just started reading the thread and commented on that before finishing the other 3 pages.

Anyway, great news all round, we get a player that fills a need for someone that was 6 days away from being officially unemployed. Also happy that the D-Rod found a new home.

Ken Hinckly all over this good pickup imo.
Hard running capable defender who can kick to place!
From what ive seen on video he would put every defender that we currently have to shame by a country mile.
Great to see some good football minds at work here,
We have been decimated by absolute stupidity in the last decade, very refreshing indeed!

What do you think trade week is about? It's not about shuffling superstars around - it's about finding the depth players that will fill positions 15-22 in your match day squad...the guys who might not be given a go somewhere, or might not be the right fit for a certain club's gameplan...but will hopefully do a job for you while the players you draft develop around them.

That's being realistic about the situation.
Trade week is about coming out with a better list than you had before you went into trade week. Port Adelaide does not have a better list than what it entered trade week with. The one move I particularly like is the Hombsch pick. What I will say is all the moves Port Adelaide have made have been low risk. That's been the plus of this trade period

I would say we have a better list moving foward.

If you asked me which list i would prefer

pre-trade period port and post-trade period port

i would take post trade period by a country mile.

Who is this new Whode?

He's going to be 24 in 2013 and has played 10 games of AFL footy. There's varying degrees of opinions on the West Coast board. This is another one of the look at what we've done moments where reality suggests we've just brought in another team's fringe player looking for an opportunity to play AFL......
Yeah but it doesn't have to be any masterpiece (nice if it turns out to be though). I reckon it was more a house-cleaning/goodwill operation and Stevenson was a handy little grab.
Slowly, ever slowly, we become West Coast-lite, as Hawthorn became Port-lite a few years ago. Anyone got Cousins' number?

Bud, looks like we need to find new signatures for 2013!?

At least our list was topped up with younger blokes and we know Stevenson has some ability albeit much of it shown in the WAFL.
Most of the time pick 88 is pretty much hit and miss anyway. If he doesn't come on to be any great find then wre certainly have lost nothing.

.... They not only secured him for nothing but did a club favourite son a favour in the process .......
Yeah, that's part of what I was trying to get at in my earlier post. As always I posted part of the way through a new thread and then I find someone has already said what I wanted to say - and done it better.

Too high a bar when you lose two 1st 22 players to free agency and have your 1st round draft pick from 2 years ago wanting out. We have a refreshed list, some good new players, and some good draft picks. We have at least come out neutral, which is more than many of us could have expected.

Craig Vozzo, the list manager at West Coast, is an Adelaide boy. He played junior footy for Westies before joining the Magpies (don't think he had a long career with us).

He's a lawyer by profession and was an AFL player agent before he joined West Coast as list manager. Maybe he has a soft spot for Port.

Traded for Shaun Rehn:eek:.

congrats guys, i've been watching him in the WAFL this season and to get him for pick 88 is an absolute steal. he was a key part in claremont's defense due to his ability to put defensive pressure on, lock down an opponent, but also rebound out of defense. his kicking is elite, and was one of the main reasons he was drafted in the first place.

was emergency a few times, but never managed to crack into the main side, which i always thought was a mistake. consistently good in the WAFL but we have an abundance of half backs at the moment so it was always going to be tough for him to crack a game.

not even a development player either, has had 20+ possesion games in the AFL, his best being against adelaide in 2010 where he had 20 possies and kicked 2 goals

im sad now :(

Don't be sad, we'll love him now. :hearts:
Knowing his best AFL game to date was against the dark empire has endeared him to me already.

Congratulations on getting Stevenson.

I think this a win for you guys.

Stevenson was well down the pecking order of Half Back Flankers in our club (we've got a plethora) but his WAFL form suggests if given an opportunity he could develop into a very handy player at the highest level.

I don't know what the depth will be like at the draft, but my money's on he'll be better than pick 88.

His vid looks good. Good size, athletic, beautiful kick of both feet.

My only questions are can he win his own ball and does he go when it's his turn.

Perhaps one of the WCE fans can answer?

doesn't mind a contest, but wont be throwing his body around like beau waters.

will put his body on the line, but isn't brilliant at ground level given that he's 189cm. not bad, just not brilliant.
