News Lewis Stevenson traded to Port for pick 88

doesn't mind a contest, but wont be throwing his body around like beau waters.

will put his body on the line, but isn't brilliant at ground level given that he's 189cm. not bad, just not brilliant.

That'll do me. he doesn't have to be Tom Logan, he just has to go when it's his turn. With skills like that he will do fine!

Thanks.

For pick 88, that's an absolute great pick up.

A lot of people over here rate Stevenson and from what I've heard, as I don't follow the WAFL much, he could definitely turn out to be one of those players who in the future say, how did Port get him for pick 88.

Trade week is about coming out with a better list than you had before you went into trade week. Port Adelaide does not have a better list than what it entered trade week with. The one move I particularly like is the Hombsch pick. What I will say is all the moves Port Adelaide have made have been low risk. That's been the plus of this trade period
Far out pal you make Portiaos & Boydman look like Captain Optimism

Iam pretty devastated he is leaving WCE.
He will probaly be the best kick in your side, his kicking on either foot is elite.
I rate him incredibly highly, he has got better every year he has been on the list.
Was behind our big queue of half back flankers, he is one of those kids given game time will flourish.

All the best Lewis, your are a great kid and wish you all the best at port.

I will have too watch more port games now.

You just made Hartlett's list. BEWARE.

Agree with this guy 100%. Very annoyed that we've lost such a promising project player after putting 5 or so years into his development. I'm hoping that you guys will reap the benefits, and in all honesty, I expect that you will.

Btw, the poster that made the comparison to Birchall is very astute indeed.

I'm realistic about Port Adelaide's situation and not easily impressed because we brought in a couple of fringe players and a KPD with potential. It seems people are readily forgetting the last 9 years under Rohde because they're getting the change they've so desperately called for

I've mentioned that I'll be pleased in 3 year's time if 25% of these moves work out. Right now, it's just change

Your not being realistic, your just being an unnecessary downer

We got rid of old players and are binging in young players. And we kept all our important players (except Pearce)

Our first 22 won't actually change that much. Chaplin isn't that big a loss and hombsch will be able to fill that need. Pearce will be hard to replace but Stevenson has good disposal and good pace so is very chance to make it.

Rodan, salopek and banner weren't best 22. So no big loss

I'm being realistic. We've taken two depth players who couldn't establish themselves in West Coast and Sydney's best 22 for a myriad of reasons, we brought in a nice pick in Hombsch, a could be anything pick in Neade and traded in an OK-ish player in Monfries.

Your our first 22 won't actually change that much is exactly why I'm not impressed with the moves Wargreymon90. The fact that our first 22 isn't better than what we went into trade week with is specifically why I'm sitting in idle waiting for a draft coup to fall into our lap come November

I think it is a tongue in cheek reference to a question Stevenson was asked in a media session. If you go back through this thread you see the context more clearly. Whether the question was just super random, or whether Wingard and Stevenson have some sort of past connection I don't know. But bearing in mind their ages I think it was the former.

I did, I don't get it....

Serious! The interview is supposed to be about hombsch and they just continually ask him questions about Wingard (even revisit it at the end). The comment was sarcastic indicating that they would ask the same thing to Stevenson...

It was bad journalism...in Adelaide....SURPRISE!

Our main problem wasn't our first 22 as such but the fact that we couldn't get our first 22 on the park and the drop off after that was large.
IMO we have addressed that in spades and realistically that is about all we could have done wrt the cards we had to play with.

bump.

This kid really reminds me of Birchall of Hawks
The way he moves and his disposal is very similar

HIS kicking has been compared to Brisbane Brownlow Medallist Jason Akermanis.

His size, athleticism and playmaking ability have drawn comparisons with Hawthorn premiership defender Grant Birchall.

Now new Port Adelaide defender Lewis Stevenson has vowed to finally deliver on his undoubted promise
