Neale tried hard .
Also marked afew in the last .
Even with Andrews arm chops .

I thought Neale was good, all things considered but in particular his experience.
Brought it to ground far more often than not, used the ball really well at times and didn't stuff up anything from what I remember, against one of the very best key backs in the comp.
Has cemented his spot in the 18 no doubt in my mind, his 2 finals were very very promising.

Well done lions. It basically all comes down to luck when it’s that close. They took their chances when luck fell their way. A couple of lucky bounces and ricochets ended up in goals in the last few minutes.

The cats were well off their normal game, probably because 1 game in 28 days doesn’t give the qualifying final winner any advantage. The pre final bye is a really stupid idea; the win loss stats are damning.

The cats had plenty of chances, especially at the start of the third. The umpiring started favouring the lions during that time and basically kept them in the game, then they started to play with confidence. The loss of Holmes didn’t help either.

The cats should hold their heads up high, it just wasn’t their night.

Some bright spark from the herald sun is saying the era is over. What a tool!

Would have had a goal from straight in front as well if Stengle hadn't lost his mind and gone for a mark he wasn't getting.

I can't be to critical of the players tonight they left nothing out there except 3 or 4 goals you can't win them all a special mention to Lawson Humphries in the final quarter a 10 gamer taking the game on trying like buggery to lift the side he's quickly becoming a favourite.

NOTE - Do Not Engage With Trolls

Welcome to this the time of year when Geelong is knocked out of premiership contention - with our refusal to bottom out, when we get knocked out of finals it brings joy to opposition fans

That means we get increased incidents of trolling, both on our board and via PMs - sometimes from regular accounts and then there's those who decide to create new accounts to act as idiots

IF anyone encounters troll activity - either on this board or via PM, the best course of action is to report the content and then leave it for the mod & admin team to deal with

Do not tag trolls, quote troll posts as that increases the work for posts to be deleted, or post screenshots - anything like that will get deleted

Let's get back on track, discuss the game and even the season at hand for those who wish - though we'll try to get a season autopsy thread up in time

Yeah, I saw him "play". You can't carry players who don't have ability. It always gets shown up. Mullin gets games on his athletic capacity, not his ability to influence the contest. That is unacceptable.

Brisbane didn't have a passenger tonight, we start with 1 everytime we play him.

I get wanting the club to find "another one" from no where, but Mullin isn't it.

Ok I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt, but now I will call it more accurately, you have no idea what you are talking about.

The worst thing about the loss is some absolute classic goals will never be seen again

This!

Both the Miers goal assist to O Henry and his boundaryline snap would have become Cats folklore if we'd won the premiership, in a similar way to how Rohan's mark and goal vs Collingwood in the 2022 QF became permanent Cats folklore when we went on to win 2022. Neither will be remembered now sadly.

Guess it depends on the era. I would say Duncan is just about done, and with him and Hawkins going that leaves no one from the 2011 flag correct? That would be an end of an era in my mind.

Hawkins is the last of the 09 premiership players, and Hawkins and Duncan are the last of the 2011 no?

As bad as Neale was (and he was bad) he did have a few “almost” moments that suggest he just needs a breakout game next year and he’ll be away.

If the alternative was Hawkins then I’m not sure he would’ve had any greater impact. He’s been a champion but is completely done.

Checking stats and considering some players performance, an absolute indictment on the midfield than Ollie Henry, whose a low possession forward in a Rohan type vein, had more disposals than 3 starting midfielders in Atkins (who had a shocker), Bowes (who did a few nice things but.... not a good game) and Bruhn (who was unsighted)....
Absolute indictment on those 3 in particular.

Guthrie was an emergency if that counts
