Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Is Matthew Nicks the right coach for Adelaide?

  • Firmly yes (I love what I'm seeing)

  • Leaning yes

  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

  • Firmly no (he should be sacked)

Always said he’s Hinkleys apprentice, dodgy used car salesman who comes across as a nice guy so he’s left alone but spins shit which muppets and the media buys.

Progress???? WTF!!!!
You see lots of these types in the workplace, who have spent their whole career imitating and copying others. If you ask them a question they've heard someone answer before, they will repeat the answer they've heard.

These guys have no original thought or insight and are terrible in unpredictable scenarios. They therefore have an over reliance on numbers and data to help them make decisions and pick the safest most risk adverse decisions. They cannot see the holistic picture as they deep down know they are a fake who's skill is being able to imitate.

They've been promoted into roles because idiots can't see the difference. So even though I think Nicks should go, I think the people who hired him have even more to answer for.

Pretty embarrassing reading in the Advertiser. And doesn't a footy club include its members? You've got the backing of select inept staff Nixxy, not the club.

Who actually publicly says that?

Bloke is finished.

It's at the point now where everyone knows he's gone, the players aren't listening, and the decision makers - who just re-signed him - are working out whether they're invisible enough to sack him and stay on, or if they need to start lining up another board to jump on or department to slide in to.

Yep, Nicks is an issue but way too much focus is on him being the problem. Many of these same things being said, you could copy/paste to our past coaches.

We never learn and the coach alone mainly cops the heat. Then we repeat the same shit again.

The only thing that matters is the groupthink inside the 4 walls. We rate ourselves against how well we implement our process not by the results that it achieves. We've been a public service based culture for 2 decades.

I guess the clappers are supporting the club in the only way they can/know. Sadly the Club management have been tried and retried over the years and we have stumbled around from crisis to crisis as also ranks. This club models itself on the British royal family establishment by not really responding or engaging. Keep quiet and the noise will go away.
The club needs to be brought into the 21st century otherwise they may not exist in 30 years the way they are heading.

Given what happened last night with the comments from Olsen, this shows that the club has learned nothing from the post 2017 fiasco, NOTHING!!!

The club is basically following the same playbook that they did when they were protecting Brett Burton.

The Adelaide Football Club will always exist. It will always be financially backed. But it won't win premierships.
Once the 50 plussers die off they may find they don't have the support they think they have. That's when they will be finally be held to account. The last 27 years they've been living off 70% support in a two team town.

Nicks clearly favours, effort, reliability and consistency and sees that as the secret sauce to the elusive premiership.

Because he's not one that can see the holistic picture and it's fairly simple in his strategic thinking. He prioritises who puts in the most effort, is the most consistent and reliable right now.

Usually, especially when it comes to young players, it's those who are less talented and skillful who fit this bucket as they need to offset their shortcomings, lack of skill and talent.

He spends 5 years investing in the wrong players and curbing the flair and instincts of the more talented players as he holds these effort guys guys up as the standard and example.

He doesn't understand that talent is god given and you can work on effort and consistency especially when you give your young kids confidence. However it is impossible to develop talent and skills in those who don't possess it.

This is someone who cannot see this and has led the club down this failed path and laments the inability of his squad to respond and execute when under pressure, not recognising that it's his system that is the cause of this.

Nice Guy, woeful coach.

Crowds need to drop away. Need a campaign for crows members to vote with their feet.
That won't affect untill end of next year.

Only way Nicks gets the sack this year is if Olsen and Silvers do a 180 on the support they showed Nicks at the Chairman function.

That won't happen.

This year has been written off due to injury internally.

A crushingly accurate description of our coach, club and decision making process

+ Trigg protecting Craig and there's been others
"He will be coach as far as the eye can see"
"Bunch of agitators out there"

If this all isn't proof of how ingrained in the culture this stuff is..
New people come in and are indoctrinated into it all which is what generally happens in broken organisations.

Then the denial there's any issue at all, we do everything well and right.

you would think tonight they are going to be having a crisis meeting tonight so its Nicks, Kellly, Olsen and probably Roo.

Whats the narrative here if they are going to save Nick's career.

How do you explain to the fans that this is all part of the plan
They can't.

Hardly anyone is buying their BS.

Nearly everyone can see Nicks doesn't have the ability to be a successful coach.

Given the rushed extension for no reason, they know they have ****ed up... trying to go into self preservation mode, but all it will do is take more down with Nicks in the end.

Best approach would be honesty & ripping off the bandaid, but they have just confirmed we are run by a club that lacks integrity & no ability to make the correct decisions when it matters.

It really shows we have a lack of quality football people at our club... & the main reason for our mediocrity.

That won't happen because Roo has showed in the past that he doubles down on his bad decisions and refuses to acknowledge them.

He stupidly thinks that if you stick at it long enough that things will eventurally right itself.

Need to get a few lads on the hill to start making Sack Nicks/Sack Olsen/Sack Silvers banners

That'll get some serious airtime too
