But your argument before was that no player wants come play for Nicks. You’ve been proven wrong four times.

So a player wont choose a club because of the coach. Playing careers typically last longer than a coaching career. So i bet money Nicks has nothing to with any of their decisions to come and play for one of two choices. Its proven nothing.

When has this ever happened? To any non-Victorian club? I'm struggling to think.

But thats my point. Jenny is arguing that all these players are coming to play for Nicks. Yet they all have something in common. Wanting to come back home or very close to home. Thats not coming to play for a coach. Lukosius didnt want to come back to SA, he wanted to stay. Yet he chose Port. Same with every other player who turned us down to stay at their own clubs, many of them SA players. Nicks isnt appealing. Lukosius was the test and it failed along with every other player we didnt get this year.

Bottom line, if we cant attract players without an agenda such as a victorian star etc then our sales pitch is not a good sales pitch. Jenny doesnt understand this.

But when has any coach ever done this? It's reasonable to think that Nicks is not a selling point but 'getting Sam Walsh to sign with Adelaide' isn't a reasonable bar to suggest the opposite.

No of course not that was just an example. Im just stating that using players with a side agenda isnt the argument she thinks it is.

Not sure how people can be critical of Nicks with regards to player retention / acquisition.

In the last 3 years we have secured 3 out of the 4 top SA players that wanted to come home (Dawson, Rankine, Cumming, Luko). The only 2 players we have lost are McAdam and Doedee - who to be honest weren't players in our top 15-17. We could have matched with Doedee but chose not to.

By all reports Nicks is a really likable bloke - they players play for him and the majority of the players seem to genuinely like him (Rachele excluded).

Dawson / Rankine / Cumming were all heavily pursued by Port but chose Adelaide.

He attracts flies too.

He sure does. There is a hell of a lot wrong with him as a coach.

But not sure how you can say that these players aren't coming to play for Nicks.

Thats an absolute terrible post. Port wanted Dawson, Rankine and Cumming who Adelaide secured.

Why was Luko the test, but the other 3 weren't? Our poaching of other clubs players in the past 3 years has actually been the best it has been in the entire history of the club.

When you only have too clubs to choose from it makes it likely we will win sometimes. Luko was a test because it really tested our sales pitch. Along with every other player who turned us down this year.

As for the best in our club history, the trading in the 90s wins hands down. Like its not even close.

But in the last 20 years, I agree with you. It has been better. But again, we are only attracting players who want to come home in the first place.

lol rankine hates port. He was never going there. Dawson was a crows fan too.

Luko is best mates with rozee which obviously helped port. Same with cumming's connection with tex.

So hang on - Luko was the test because he was happy to stay at Gold Coast but chose Port over us. But Rankine, Dawson, Cumming weren't a test because they wanted to come to SA (even though Port wanted them and our sales pitch beat out ports).

Your posting is really intelligent.

Not of poaching best 22 players from other clubs. We have brought in 7 best 22 players from other clubs in our 30+ years.

3 of the 7 have come in the last 3 years under Nicks.

Darren Jarman 96, Carey 2002, Thompson 2004, Betts 2013, Dawson 2021, Rankine 2022, Cumming 2024.
