Doesn't seem to be much talk about the new substitute rule change from coach Scott.
Is that going to see a more running and handball style of team play?
Will it mean older teams get tired and younger teams will run out games?

Looking at the AFL wiki, this was last used between 2011 to 2015, though with only 3 on the bench and 1 as a sub.
Hawks did have their three peat during that time.

On the face of it, our team might do better than a few others.

I don’t think it’ll have a substantial impact on how the game looks. Rotations are still limited and this will be the 23rd best player on the list.

For us it might mean we play AMT a little earlier than otherwise knowing we can sub him out at any time.

Barring injuries, I would have Voss as the sub as a swap for Tippa later in the game.

Thought Voss's energy when he came on in the practice match was great. Would give him a taste without the physical demands of a full game.

I would really hope not. Debut as sub is something I hate.

Love the approach. Interesting re McKenna and that Sheedy’s on board with his ideas.

McKenna section is definitely interesting. “Anywhere but Essendon” in October to “4 meetings and Essendon back to being an option”.

Plenty of opportunities to convince him that what he hated before isn’t there now… but also the implication that what he hated before is within Scott’s control or knowledge.

So I was right. When I said we were just treading water for the sake of keeping the peace. I was right. When I said that being easy-going, with a lack of accountability was the mantra - and that Heppell as a captain personified that as a figure-head - I was right. When I said Ben Rutten was a meek coach installed for the sake of going with the motions and that the "succession plan" was a thinly-veiled attempt at garnering an extended honeymoon to delay accountability and tempers, I was right. The entire time, I was right (and was criticized by some, you know who you are). And it took change at the very top to, 1) see through it, and 2) to feel pressured enough to overturn it. My, hindsight is a bitch. But, it's time to move on.

Scott said he understood the context from the saga of “trying to keep everyone happy, keep everyone on board, whilst trying to push an elite AFL lifestyle.

“I think the contradictions were stark. So I fully understand that, as a club, we over-indexed on trying to keep our players, and keep them happy but there were compromises that came with that.”

Worst part of all that for mine was it seems to say we were hamstrung trying to make up for the mistakes of the past, and that we've now placed a real emphasis on trying to make up for the mistakes of the past.

3-5 year minimum. I’m with Scottie every step of the way. If those dickheads on the board flinch when things go bad we as a supporter base must do something. ****ing ridiculous that sheedy got away with his childish behaviour last year. ****ing ridiculous that dodoro is still there. But if Scott can handle it then so can I.
Off to the game !

And then he spent off season desperately trying to bring players back.
