Scott's coaching kept us in the game. Did you notice the change after quarter time?
So he coached us keeping us in the game with 1 hand tied behind our back instead of having both hands free with better selections.

You make it sound like we won the game... Pretty sure despite his great gameday coaching we still lost.

So that's kind of a mute point.

Make better decisions and it could have been a win instead.

The question is who comes in for him to go forward. We have so many out already that our backs are mostly former or failed forwards 😅 Hind, Lord… I think I will try to watch Montgomerie too today.
Hind was a defender at VFL level. So not really a failed forward, more a defender who was unsuccessfully tried forward.

And who out from the fwd line? Davey most likely

I think he's fine back as long as the system holds up and he isn't last line defender. Redman needed to stay back with zerk out imo. Didnt adjust, but also had a mare.

Lav turning it over with every kick out of d50 didnt help either.

Redman, Laverde, Langford, Stewart. Hind is a former forward, even if he shouldn’t have been. Cox, Reid and Baldwin all supposed to swing as well.

All that is missing the forest for the trees really though. I’m suggesting we don’t have a lot of genuine small defensive depth. Hind is a defender, then you have Lord with his unused sub debut and Montgomerie I think? And then what, Guelfi? We’re one injury away from oblivion back there.

We're also legitimately playing one key defender in BZT. The amount of defenders we have (15 if we include Massimo and Baldwin) is fine. In fact it's probably the ideal amount you'd have in the squad. Kelly, Hind, D'Ambrosio, Redman and McGrath are all defenders who can take smalls from the side last night. Ridley has the mobility to do so as well, and Laverde probably could but is untested in the role. Our issue is the lack of AFL ready key defenders.

You’re the one that said to send D’Ambrosio forward. Make up your mind

I'm saying that we can afford to because we do have small defensive depth and he's not a great defender. I'd rather run with another tall so that our mediums don't have to take talls.

Which is exactly why Massimo isn't a defender. He's simply too leaky.
They just need to adjust the structure so he doesn’t get left deep as much. There’s plenty of attacking half backs that aren’t good at defending playing for various teams atm, the trick is to structure up and cover for them. Massimo should never be getting left out on an island deep 1on1.

He tends to follow them rather than switching with Kelly or McGrath, which is what he needs to do.

No, I literally made it sound like he kept us in the game. I'm commenting on his game day coaching so no it's not a moot point at all.

I've said elsewhere that selecting Heppell was a mistake. I said last week that I wasn't sold on Jones.

That’s pretty much what Scott said in the presser when asked about it. He wants to have a closer look at what happened back there because we’re long past the point of 1v1 and blaming one defender for one opponent’s performance.

Sorry. Eth is right, you guys are wrong. We have a dearth of small defenders. It's our deficiency in key defender depth that is causing the issue. As a small Dambro isn't as effective as any of those others. We can cover him going forward.

Might be time for a new sig....

And my posts in this thread have been all about team selection.

So yes, it's a moot point, because you are talking about something different.

If you bothered to read the thread you would of seen that.

It's also just as simple that games can be won and lost at the selection table.

Jesus, obviously not a direct 1 for 1 replacement but was down back and the only change is BZT out... Soooo whats your point?

I don't care if its a coaching group decision. As senior coach you are the face of that group. So those decisions are reflected on him.

Over half of the squad are low IQ footballers, I am certainly not excusing the players, but change starts at the top. And it should of happened last week.

We shouldn't wait for a bad result to think "oh better do something". Grow a set and make the bad PR call.
Weird I thought we bought Stringer and Weideman into the forward line.
