yeah, i don't think you make Shiel a sub if he's fit to play is where i'm at.

that said, the mega bucks to play VFL conversation could be one to have with the trajectory of our kids.
Sure... but then you have to drop Hobbs, or play Caldwell forward and drop Menzie, Snelling or Guelfi.

Ideally the kids should be developing in the 2s, where it doesn't matter as much if they screw up and they can focus on developing the deficiencies in their games rather than doing whatever helps the team in the next hour – just as Parish and Langford had to do when they were 2nd and 3rd year players.

If Caldwell playing in the forward line is so awful for his development, then he needs to play in the 2s. If Menzie warming the bench for 20 minutes is so awful for his development, then he needs to play in the 2s. Bryan getting 35 touches in the VFL rather than 6 in the AFL is likely to be better for him, as long as he is being suitably challenged by the coaches and the opponent and knows where he needs to improve. Cox running around trying to figure out what his role is is better done in the 2s than looking lost and losing his confidence in the AFL side.

If it is hurting their development to play in the VFL, then the thing we need to be looking at is the VFL program.

it's a bit of an awkward one.

Hence maybe it's the outcome that Shiel needs to find his place.
Can he play forward more instead of Caldwell.

So main mids = Merrett, Parish, Setterfield, Hobbs, Caldwell, Tsatas
Cameos = Shiel, Stringer, Perkins

Im fine with Shiel as sub, i was actually thinking with it so close still at 3 qtr time he could be the difference

Who to sub was always a tough call and doomed either way if the result doesnt go your way, not spoken about, if the result goes your way

I really like Menzie and wouldve picked Guelfi to be subbed off but from memory had a big play in the last

Weideman wasnt really an option, his job on Allir was important and his ability to chop in the ruck also important allowing 2MP to stay forward

It's Scooter05, he used to post the Lunchtime Catchup podcast on our board when it came out each week, until Chief noticed it (after like 2 years 🤣 ) and moved it to the pods board instead.
I would have my own podcast but I have no tech skills , a head for radio and a voice that will make you turn off after 2 minutes :p

You’re posting on a forum, it’s about the same level of skill.

But I want you to include all the arguments. It would make great listening.
he could call it Just Talkin’ on a Podcast

i’d like and subscribe

I feel you brother.
Mind you, the only time I did a podcast, I was accused of being Scott Lucas.
Not a left footer.

Shiel can midfield, just maybe not putting him straight in the guts after we’ve been dominating and he’s been sitting on the bench during a wet cold night (and also coming back from a couple of weeks off)
He should've been champing at the bit. You think he was sooking it for 3 quarters not preparing himself properly to have an impact? Delist.
