sharon fulton case - husband at the time has been charged with her murder. He was charged in late 2023 - wonder if the sudden arrest after 37 years was relative to tips subsequent to the above?

Wouldn't be the first time that's happened, if it's generally kept quiet.

I seem to recall something about a skeletal body being found in a storm water drain somewhere around albany hwy in Maddington/Gosnells years ago. would of been near where maddington bunnings is now, and the body would of been found sometime in the 90's. Been trying to google it but cant find anything. dont know if the body was identified or not which makes it harder.

I am so cynical about these rewards. AFAIK very, very few are ever handed out even when people come forward with information, in part because the information provided has to lead directly to the conviction (and how do you determine that?). So it's money the government offers, knowing full well it isn't going to cost them. I would hope that any reward offered is also matched by an injection of funds to the cold case investigation itself because historically that seems to have far more impact on solving the case.

I also don't think people sit around going, "Well the reward is only $250K and that just isn't enough. I think I'll wait and see if they up it to $1M."

I think there are two reasons cases sometimes get solved when a huge reward is offered. First, the additional publicity. Second, with particularly old cases, people who knew something at the time may no longer be as scared about coming forward.

google Pauline Juliet Walters mate, her skeletal remains were found by Armadale Shire Workers and her skull was missing, most likely taken as a trophy!

The Rayney one is interesting, given the WA police were tangled up in the prosecution of her husband and subsequent litigation and slanging matches for so long. I wonder if there’s any acknowledgment they might have got it wrong, if they’re going through the motions or they want vindication.

Pauline Walters was found in a drainage ditch on Rowley Road. no where near Maddington.

My partners parents had a large rural block a stones throw from Rowley Road. Back when the body was found, Rowley Rd was one of those outer suburban back roads that link major roads, but are still fairly isolated. Imagine no clearly defined road edge, drainage ditches at the road edge, lots of trees and over growth, no street lights, and country houses well set back from the road on 10+ acre blocks. Besides the farm blocks, there were large market gardens, and commercial fruit/veg growers.

In this case i'm thinking Pauline may have been hitch hiking, and been dropped off on rowley or nicholson rd. while walking and trying to thumb a lift to travel further, she was hit by a passing car/truck, flung off the road and into the ditch. Not far off Rowley Rd there was also a pub that catered to the local workers, this place apparently had a bit of a reputation as being a bit loose with alcohol service and drink driving laws.

I haven't heard anything about the skull being missing prior, however it is possible it was taken by animals. (there are still bandicoots, foxes, feral cats and dogs etc that get around that area, and it now has quite a bit of housing development growth.)

I see they have included Amy Wensley as a 2014 homicide. Interesting as her death was originally classed as suicide, and then after a cold case review it couldn't be concluded as suicide or homicide.

copy of the coroners report above. after a read through there's a few odd things in there, to me it sounds like the boyfriend was involved, although there is no conclusive evidence to prove that Amy's death was murder rather suicide. Coroner gave an open finding.

For anyone interested in the Amy Wensley case, there is a tv show about it on Monday 24/6 in Perth. Channel 7 or 9. Forget the name of the show but would be easy to find if your interested.

7NEWS Spotlight - The truth about Amy: Crime scene detail blows open probe into death of WA mum Amy Wensley

Tim Clarke The West Australian

A world-renowned crime scene reconstruction expert has sensationally concluded there is no way young mum Amy Wensley could have killed herself — 10 years after WA Police detectives took minutes to conclude she had.

This week, and for many weeks to come, Seven West Media will release a major new podcast — The Truth About Amy — which will revisit the death of devoted mother-of-two Amy Wensley in Serpentine in 2014.
...'

Have been listening to the podcast, The Truth about Amy.
I find Liam Bartlett’s tone very aggressive and confrontational at times. Personally I find this off putting and don’t think it would encourage cooperation from the people he is interviewing. IMO
