Why, because he's a young developing key forward who's had an occasional run in the 2's, especially when there is competition for his spot? Across his career he's played a total of 7 games in the SANFL vs 49 AFL games.

For comparison sake, to the same point in his career Darcy Fogarty had played almost 30 games in the reserves and something like 26 AFL games for less goals (at AFL level) then Georgiadies managed in his second year alone.

To suggest this means Port consider him a "SANFL player" is simply moronic.
occasional run in the 2's? You mean the whole season thus far? He has been out of form for over a year now. You call him a developing key forward, I call him a guy who has literally gone backwards at the rate of knots since 2021, getting dropped several times in 2022.

He's played a third of the season at AFL level and only won't play anymore because he's injured.

Not entirely sure that's the "whole season thus far".

he was dropped once, in round 11.

He got an injury near the end of the year and missed a couple of games.

He also has not been out of form for over a year now, he’s kicking has been poor in that time.

He went at 1.2 goals a game in 2022, which for a 21yr old kf is very respectable.

At the same age fritsch was averaging less than a goal a game. Should we be amazed melb didn’t delist him? Or maybe 1.2 goals a game from a 21yr old is actually a decent return.

The issue is Mitch’s goalkicking went haywire, and the coach mishandled how to get him back on track. He stupidly thought dropping him would help fix it. It didn’t and now he’s injured. As port fans have been saying for ages hinkley has zero idea what he’s doing. He will be gone soon enough and would have already been gone if the afls Victorian power base didn’t have us handcuffed to a board of their choosing.

People like you are what’s wrong with the internet.

Lots of people willing to share their opinions and no desire to research the facts first.

it's not respectable. Van Rooyen is averaging 2.2 goals. Also Fritsch played a lot in the backline so you clearly didn't do your own research.

I am wondering if our Port colleagues can explain why Mitch has gone to Perth for surgery yet he was supposedly so happy with his “close mates” in Adelaide?

The guy was not happy at the club. An unhappy player fully fit struggles to want to stay. An unhappy player facing a lonely stint in rehab is out of there.

How do you think contract negotiations are likely to go with a cross Nullabour zoom meeting?

Freo or West Coast will be into his manager and whoever finishes lowest walks him through the PSD. No chance Piet get any sympathy. Port have burnt a load of clubs in trading so what goes around comes around.

If Port Power were chasing Georgiades, what would you expect your club to offer him?

I think Cam Rayner might've had his ACL reconstruction surgery in Melbourne, despite being happy up in Brisbane.

And the only reason he’s in the sanfl is hinkley thinks (wrongly) that it is the way to fix his kicking yips.

It’s an attempt to get him some confidence in his kicking back and then bring him back into the side.

No one thinks he’s behind finlayson as a talent.

You don’t know what Hinkley or anyone inside Port are thinking.

Port supporters are so quick to blame the coach for everything wrong with the club, yet a semi-plodder in Finlayson is currently in near career best form in basically the same role and the same system.

He turned down a lucrative offer from WCE in the off season. If he was so unhappy he would've left!

Van rooyen has played 4 games. If he finishes the year with 2.2 goals he would be considered a star of the competition.

1.2 goals a game is very respectable for a kf 21 and under.

Logan MacDonald ugle Hagen McKay todd Marshall Fogarty thilthorpe Dixon lynch and so on all quality kfs and 1.2 goals a game isn’t pale in compared to what they did at the same age.

Were their years then not respectable? Do you consider them to be poor when they started?

We’re not chasing him and what the ruck does that have to do with the post you quoted which was talking about misconceptions about his form in 2022 and how many times he was dropped that year.

Just trying to see what you think his valuation is since you seem to think even a mid 2nd rounder isn't fair?

These stats were in the past. He's now not even a best 22 player and hasn't been for 6 weeks. Do melbourne get a first round pick for Weideman because he averaged 1.5 goals at some point in his career?

Also I wouldn't give a first rounder for ugle-hagan or thilthorpe and probably not logan mcdonald either. So not sure why you listed them .

It’s the bloody year you were referring to.

You said his form was poor in 2022. He went at 1.2 goals a game which is not poor form (his goal kicking is the problem)

As to the last statement by you… you’ve got to be kidding? They’re all quality kfs and you don’t rate them? Lol of course not.

They’re not Melbourne demons.

Lol yea guy, he’s so unhappy that 6 months ago all he had to do was say “trade me to west coast’ and it was on is desperate to leave

Cool

no I don't rate any of those guys. how can you? they've done nothing to this point. They're all fringe players still. Do you just look at their draft position and then rate them based solely off that. they're all sub risks each game.

Ugle-hagan hasn't kicked a goal for 3 weeks. he kicked 5 in one game and then kick 1 goal for 5 weeks of footy which is horrendous. The others aren't much better.

You're being grossly unfair about these 3.
They're all 20/21 and have the potential to be jets.

It's just not true that "they've done nothing"'at this point either.

Do you actually watch them play or just go off of goals kicked?

Ugle-Hagan didn't kick a goal last game yet took 10 marks and had 16 possessions.

All three of them would easily be first round picks.

Cool
Why would WC and Freo want to trade him 6 months ago when he was contracted?

Port would've asked top dollar.

He's probably better suited to Freo anyway.
We have Darling, Oscar Allen and Waterman.

Pre-knee injury he would've been worth a second rounder.
Seriously doubt any club will pony up a second rounder now.

Not based on what they've done. Ugle-hagan for instance, lacks natural aggression and for someone who is 197cm lacks any sort of presence and for someone with a fluid kicking action is actually quite inaccurate in front of goal. I don't see it at all. They don't pass the eye test.

Yeah, he had 10 marks. But only 17 for the other games with an average of 3.2 a game.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Sam Weideman AFL Stats Comparison

Tell me what Ugle-Hagan has done for instance that Weideman wasn't already doing at the same age? There's nothing.

To relate this back to M.G, I don't think he has shown any more or any less than those guys listed. In a few years if those guys don't break out like M.G hasn't then they also will be worth late 2nd rounders.

There's a thing called potential that you don't take into account.
Ugle-Hagan is 6ft 6 and is still filling out.

Expecting skinny 21 year olds to rip apart games in their first or second year is silly.

They're going to have more quiet games than good ones this early in their careers.

I don't know anything about Weiderman or care to.

All I know is that all 3 of the players you mentioned would be worth a first rounder easily.

Let's agree to disagree.

Those 3 easily worth a first. Georgiades was too at one point but hard to gauge his value atm. If he wants out we’d be selling him at his lowest value.
