Both Bickley and Rowe are saying that the McGovern to Carlton deal is done.

They're intimating that its one of picks 24 or 25 (which will blow out to 27 or 29) plus McAdam

In all seriousness, they wouldn't know jackshit about what the trade may look like. Anybody panicking that this will be the trade needs to grow a pair.

Needless to say, if this is what eventuates, I'm going to cry. :'(
The only way i would swallow that deal is id thet 2nd rounder was the final piece of a deal to net a top 5 pick. Otherwise we have taken a pick that will be close to 30 and a state league player for a guy that has shown he has the talent to be a top afl player when over injury. Just seems totally bizarre. Add to that haven't gold coast indicated they will take mcadam?

If Richmond get Tom Lynch they don’t get a compensation pick for Ronca (one of the rules if you pick up a free agent you don’t get a pick for losing a free agent or something like that) and pick 25 was Bulldogs compensation pick for Dahlhaus.
So that still push's the Draft Picks out 2 spots, with more to come

Do any trades happen on Monday? Isn't that when each team speed dates all the others?
All clubs have been talking a month ....the speed date these days is simply coffee & biscuits ....they'll be negotiating all this weekend

Seen this mentioned a few times. Has anyone got his quote on that? I missed it.

Roo said it on the radio. I personally haven't seen Reid say it.

Think it's been reported a few time on here, that it was Roo on MMM who made the statement about Carlton's 2nd round picks

I doubt very much the MM trade will get done early, unless it is clearly a very good trade for us. I still think it may involve future picks. I'm still calling Rowe/Bicks' 'intel' as BS. No way do we accept that.

If Sheil nominates Carlton then GWS trade out Setterfield and Sheil plus pick 13 for pick 1. Pick 13 plus McAdam for Gov (Thats if we have a hard on for McAdam).

If however we accept a late second for Gov and McAdam Reid needs to be sacked along with Roo, Chapman, Fagan, Haas, Burton, Pyke and even that annoying chick who hangs around the fax machine.

It may be the tempering expectations line so that we (supporters) are gearing up for a let down but then the club over delivers and gets us somehow into the top 5 of the draft or a good 1st round pick for mitch

That Fax machine girl is good value at the Christmas party though! Get 2-3 drinks in her and she becomes the life of the party

Had Bickley and Rowe claimed a deal had been done and offered a trade that was perfectly reasonable, how many calls would they have received on their show? How many web clicks? How much discussion would it have generated amongst footy fans? Sports journalism is mostly a joke and is generally nothing more than trolling opinion designed to generate outrage. I would be amazed if pick 25 and McAdam was the deal. Let us all relax and just wait and see what transpires. The club isn’t totally useless when it comes to trades and drafting... I hope.

If the deal is true, and it goes down early, then that's exactly what will happen. Not hard to imagine since you have other first rounders in play that could be bundled together. I'd say it's a top 2-3 pick though and that GC are involved.

And this is the EXACT purpose of claiming the 2nd round & McAdam ......nothing to do with inside knowledge ...everything to do with getting irate callers and clickbate

What you have to remember, 5AA is an infomercial station, adverts dotted with the same personality interviews each week, but then building drama, like a Soap Opera, to generate discussion & listeners for their advertisers ....it's tabloid radio

It's not true ...take it to the Bank

It can't as there will have to be other clubs involved ...and that takes time & sometimes, other pieces to fall

Shiel's decision will hold up a lot of trades

Can't be far away. GWS will be demanding it, so that they can get their trade whips cracking.
Shiel making a decision is 20% of the deal...all the time will be tied up getting the 2 x 1st round picks GWS will demand .....if it's Hawthorn, how do they satisfy GWS ?

Maybe the rumor of Burton being on the table could be true .....maybe Hawthorn is speaking to Reid about our #15 pick?

Burton isn’t a forward and we don’t have room in the back 6 for him, where does he play?

Aside from the fact that GC have said they won’t be trading those picks, they currently have delisted 3 senior players and are likely to lose Lynch, May and Hall too. So that makes 6 spots available. They’re trading in someone (can’t recall who), so there’s 5 spots they need to fill at the draft. Prevailing wisdom suggests their first 5 picks are likely to be 2,3,5,17 and 26. Why would they give up those top few picks for a bundle of lower picks they are unlikely to need and use?

Again, how many times does it need to be stated. If Carlton want Gov, then they will have to offer something substantial to make it happen. It’s not up to other clubs to help you guys out.

I'm like you, don't think he has nailed down an AFL role yet ....he was a high leaping forward as a junior, but his marking hasn't been a feature at all at AFL level

So, to answer your question ....is he a need, we have ?

He looks a very nice and compact player but we don’t have a direct need for him. I would give up pick 15 for him but we don’t have that need.

HB: Smith - Keath - Laird
FB: Doedee - Talia - Brown

Smith could move to a wing and you have a vacancy but who knows.
