There were rows and rows of Sam McClures at the Royal Show.

We were building some thing good in 2012 as well after the preliminary final loss to the Hawks by less than a goal, then Tippett did a grab for money and Walker did his ACL the following year.

No we were not.

2012 we had a super easy draw and everything went our way. We played good sides when they lost key players. We had the better sides at AAMI stadium instead of way.

We were about the 5 to 8th best side but different factors went our way to climb up the ladder.

See the Hawks this year and Port Adelaide in 2007.

Setting my AFC bias aside, if I was a GC supporter, I would be absolutely apoplectic if my club traded away picks 2 and 3. Especially after already having traded away last year's pick 2 for Lachie Weller. This is why I think a Crows or Port smash-and-grab for GC's 2 and 3 is pie in the sky stuff. No harm in trying, I suppose.

I think the only way they're trading away picks like that is if it's for young established players again. I'm sure their supporters would love to be taking them all to the draft, but if they're trading them for players they at least know that player wants to go to GC.

From a Carlton poster on the main board....

'I would think in a deep draft with an even spread after pick 7 and multiple SA draftable boys a second rounder and the mature ager of your choice is more than enough. The mature increases the value of our second rounder so it gets into the mid to lower first round stage.'

Yep so pick 27 and some 24 year old that's never played AFL is worth about pick 10-16.... I'm taking a break from BigFooty. It is doing my head in. See you after the trade period.

I love the “more than enough” comments as if they are chucking us a bone with McAdam. It’s like Pick 25 for McGovern would be sufficient.

It might be that the latest comments from ogilvie, reid, lukosius and cochrane from GC are playing down things but i just can't help shake that this might also be part of a coordinated commentary to keep a pick trade deal very quiet. It just strikes as odd that ogilvie would publicly be non plussed with both luko and rankine's testing but equally ut could just be what it is
I don’t want to be THAT guy (but I will be anyway). Nonplussed means surprised and unsure. I think you mean disinterested.

The McGovern trade wont go as smooth as it seem's

I find it interesting Pyke has been in melbourne for some time. It has been mentioned that he has been taking a Clarkson approach and leading conversations with trade target's

Pyke is an experienced negotiator from his oil and gas days - his job was to negotiate multi million dollars deals. so no surprises he is involved at the coal face here.

He played his jr career up forward. He kicked how many goals on us when he played last year?

I don’t believe his best position is as a forward. It is as a defender

Plenty of underage kids were forwards but never took that next step.

Nobody is saying it is a GC type implosion.

Camp + whatever was going on with the unusually large amount of soft tissue injuries was enough to curtail your 2018 chances.
Wow, such insight!

Are you going to let us know who won the 2018 AFL premiership too?

Grow up. Stay out of the adults chatting.
You may be an adult but given your posting, you don't exactly have a high IQ. Not a single one of your posts has added value to this board.

When posting on team boards, you need to be respectful. If you can't manage that, then head to the Bay.

The injuries really did come at the wrong time and to key players no less.

I strongly concur that collective minds rubbish is largely a waste of time. Get the boys working hard and bonding in a camp and you're most of the way there for what you'd want out of a camp imo.

Shall leave you guys to it, few people getting antsy for claiming the 2018 year was a disaster for the Crows.

If you came on and discussed 2018 as a disaster most here would agree with you however you added we are imploding.

This shows you are either trolling or are mentally challenged, (or both) we have one player wanting to leave - to carlton ffs.

You have shown you have a limited IQ but ask yourself why would a player choose to go to Cartlon, could it be a very, very large sum of money?

Now move along boy, the adults have more to talk about.. Bloody school holidays.

1 player is asking for a trade. 1 player. That is it.

Then you come onto this board and use a few adjectives like “imploding” and “explode” to ask what the hell is going on.

Now you are back tracking. Since we are only losing 1 player to this atrocity, I’m assuming your next step is to investigate the Brisbane Lions and why they are losing their players?
+1

Try commenting on the Dons board about their drug saga and you would be hit with a ban so fast you would make your head spin.

I'm not convinced about this anti Adelaide crusade from the journos. Naturally being outside of Vic the focus on your club will be moreso when something dramatic occurs whether that's storming to the minor premiership or something tragic like Walsh.

As it turns out you had some unusual camp which ruffled feathers, so much so that the club even came out multiple times to defend it and then can the organisation that ran it.

Of course that's a story that people will run with. Its downright bizarre what happened.
Absolutely there is an anti Crows crusade by the journo's. It's off the back of the Crows giving the afl media the middle finger and taking it all in house and doing it themselves. They give the afl journo's zero, no inside whispers, no scoops, nothing. And they hate it. So in return they take every opportunity to pot the club to try and get the club to engage with them. Which they don't. Want proof, compare how Port Adelaide is spoken about in the media compared with the Crows. There is a clear agenda that is quite obvious.

Had Bickley and Rowe claimed a deal had been done and offered a trade that was perfectly reasonable, how many calls would they have received on their show? How many web clicks? How much discussion would it have generated amongst footy fans? Sports journalism is mostly a joke and is generally nothing more than trolling opinion designed to generate outrage. I would be amazed if pick 25 and McAdam was the deal. Let us all relax and just wait and see what transpires. The club isn’t totally useless when it comes to trades and drafting... I hope.
If Noble was still at the club I’d believe it.

I agree but I also feel our club needs to make a huge turn around on the 2018 dip. This need's to start from the off season and if the coach is in "beast mode" taking ownership starting with the silly season than I as all fans should be happy

Look at hawks, the are sustaining success at a good level yes? Ask why that is!

Trading and drafting is where you need rational decisions based on extensive research starting years before the draft. The coach should spell out what type of player he wants, especially positional needs. The guy whose full-time job it is to identify talent should be making the calls before the coach though, who would have seen less of potential recruits than some of our BF posters with an interest in junior footy.
Blight was always in beast mode as a coach but his recruiting credentials were minimal, as with all our coaches. Input yes, but don't override a proven recruiter like Hamish. There's no substitute for research.

LOL.

That wouldn't even get it done if he was out of contract, let alone with 2 years left

I'm pretty sure Blight had a hard on for Ken. Can't recall the source though, and can't fathom why.

The story I heard was that McGregor was playing in the seniors and Pavlich was injured at the time. They asked Mark Mickan (Eagles coach at the time) which one he'd take at the time and he advised them to nab McGregor.

The rest is history and despite Pavlich having a far superior career if you compare Ken McGregor to some of the other bottom agers picked by the other clubs under that rule we were one of very few to get any value from our selection at all.
