As it stands today they have a main list is 35 with 4 rookies
with Lynch, May, Scrimshaw, Martin, Hall and Possibly Brodie requesting trades.
If all those players leave then their main list will 29 plus 4 rookies.
3 mature ages plus 2 in's still leaves them with a main list of 34. 6 spots to fill with draft picks.
Don’t get me wrong, if we walk away from this draft with Luko, Rankine, a mature ager of our choice and a Woodcock or similar with a late pick, then I’ll be more than happy. But GCs first six picks would be 2,3,5,17,26,29. And they have later picks for other trades. I just don’t see it happening that they trade down.

If GC have all those early picks it's not looking very Rozee for us.

Don't think it will happen, But after Walsh, the next 4 picks have the go home factor, in Luko, Rankine and King x2 on them But pick 5,8 14, 17 they can get lads that will likely stay in GC.
Will be an interesting conversation
Either way, the Crows will have a good draft, with a possible 3 picks in the 1st round, 8, 14 and the McGovern Pick
As the only way, they should accept 2 x 2nd for McGovern is if GC swap picks.

Interesting, hadn’t thought about list numbers.

Note we only had 39 in 2018.
Out: McGovern, Hampton, Dear, Gibson, Cheney/Kelly
In: Stengle, Smith, McAdam, Pick 8, Pick 16, Pick 21, Pick 37, Pick 27, Pick 29

So even assuming one of Cheney/Kelly are going to be traded/delisted that leaves us with a maximum six spots to fill. But, we’ve shown we prefer to go 39 due to salary cap recently meaning more likely only going to be 5 spots unless there’s other players going. Keeping Mackay looks like a terrible option when you look at all this.

If the picks proposed GC/Carlton/Adelaide trade is true (Picks 2+3) that would be 4 in with Smith possibly taking the 5th free spot leaving pick 37 not in use.
Surely, you add Signorello to the delistings in this case.

Out: McGovern, Hampton, Dear, Gibson, Cheney, Signorello.

In: Stengle, Smith, McAdam, etc

We do know, and the value is practically 0.

They are akin to the speculative rookie pick player. Sure a club may want them, but really, they're not going to give up much if anything to get them.

Unfortunately we're dealing with this utterly terrible idea of them being used in a trade because Geelong hit the needle in the haystack. The absolute fluke that could make the transition, and be a star season 1.
You have to also count Liam Ryan in the "state league success picked in the 20s" discussion, don't you?

I know it has been said previously but subsequent deals do not make previous deals better. 2 barely 2nd round picks and some state league nobody is a shit deal.
In isolation you are correct however i think most of us would swallow a poor result from the mcgovern trade if it was part of an agreed greater trade to get top 5 picks. It is the greater overall picture that is important if it pans out that way

Yeah nah. Its the same argument some put in the Gibbs trade . ' its really 2 1sts because Carlton are shit and its likely to be 19 '

Its a 1st and a 2nd.

Anyway big picture or not it doesnt look good

It depends. Does dicking around on the first deal mean you miss out on the second?

If they give us 2 and 3 and we give them 8, 16, 20 , 23 and 24 they would be better off as they get 3 extra picks in the top 25 of a very strong draft . They need to build a whole team they don’t need just 2 good players they need ten as they are shithouse and will be even more so with the players leaving this year.

I had no idea that he was, but definitely, seeing once a mature ager gets a game, it's a success.

Wouldn't say he is the cause of this "craze" though
