We've set our price to a top 10 pick + McAdam as what we roughly expect. The top 10 may sway to 12-13 with something else added just due to Sydney being the logical trade partner here.

If Carlton/Gold Coast didn’t have these mature-age picks, I guarantee you nobody would be talking about McAdam. He would have been a speculative late/rookie pick at best. Nobody in the media had even heard of him 3 weeks ago, but suddenly he’s the second coming of Tim Kelly and worth heaps.

Truth is, Carlton have actually already set the value of their mature-age picks. They sold Nathan Kreuger to Geelong for a third-round pick (42). So thats what they’re worth. Accepting McAdam and a second rounder is the same as accepting a second and a third for Gov. Even with another second thrown in, thats still not enough in my books, unless we can turn those two seconds into a pick 10ish, but the onus needs to be on Carlton to get that pick swap done first, not for us to just accept it and hope we can do a swap later. It may never eventuate and we’re stuck with two crap picks.

1 valuation doesn’t suit everyone. You can not expect to buy you house and my house for the same price. It’s stupid to expect that.

However, McAdam would be worth a pick between 25-35 but that is beside the point. That’s the crows choice where we draft him, not Carlton’s.

His valuation should not influence the McGovern deal. If we were interested in McAdam, we should have said from the very beginning, that will be a separate deal and negotiations will apply accordingly.

Macadam is a far superior player to Kruger. So setting 1 price for everyone is just wrong.

That's a massively quick drop from categorically asking for a top 10 pick (which is what we were reported to have done yesterday).

I'd be inclined to say that isn't too believable yet if at all. Unless we've struck another deal somewhere with most likely Gold Coast.

I'd equally say this trade won't get done until Shiel is settled with what he is doing.
