Well, that was fun

My post back on page 107 wasn't too far off the mark

See you next year :D
 That's the hilarious aspects of these inter-club trade debates ....after the conclusion, no-one ever admits they were wrong ....and always find a way of justifying why in fact they were right

He does at least have attributes that translate to the AFL with speed, leap and agility, unlike Gore. I'll however believe he would have gone "inside the top 20" when I see him performing as such on an AFL field.

Ryan goes 24 in a weaker draft off the back of kicking 73 goals in a season and this guy is a 15-20 pick in this draft? Righto...

26 in a weaker draft :)

We got reamed.

Let's just hope our recruiters can turn the picks into gold like they usually do. Only part of our club I actually have faith in.
Don't tell me you are one of them who thought McGovern was worth pick 5?
He was always only worth pick 10-12 in a strong draft and that's how the market valued him.

No they don’t
The draft is done by full timers and phantom drafts by anonymous posters on an Internet forum
Cal Twomey is anonymous?

Chris Dorre isnt that anonymous. He is open about his name on here

In so far as it was 1 extra pick it's not far off. When you consider that the second pick was worth close to exactly the same as the other one given up, it's a fair way off.
Yep, and this was my point

Just baffling how these people convince themselves they know anything. The deal was great. We have room to move now.

If that really is true and we hear other recruiters back it up in the coming weeks, then it does spin how I view the trade on its head.

So is it now on Reid or Hamish as to whether McAdam lives up to the expectations of a 15-20 pick?
I can categorically say for a fact (from a recruiting friend of mine at another club) that McAdam was rated within the top 20 this year, the best mature aged talent in this draft were his words. Only reason he went undrafted a couple of years ago is for off field related stuff.

If you look through drafts and compare to phantoms you’ll see plenty of examples

In fact we have one of the best ones on our list and his name kind of rhymes with Tuesday !

From what I’ve heard some clubs had Mcadam around 25 or Better and alot in top 40

One thing I will say to refute the fact that any clubs other than us had him 15-20 is that if that was the case Carlton could have traded him to that club for say pick 17 and kept that pick for themselves while working something
else out to give to us with 13

**** yeah. Why not?

You think he’s bound an oath

Otherwise you must believe we rated Sam Siggins in the top 20 and we couldn’t believe dean gore was available
Far out you're a frustrating poster, just can't admit there are other people out there who have more informed opinions than you.

Yes, he was absolutely rated top 20. You can believe it or not, but Reid and a direct source of mine have both said the same thing, people who study the draft a heck of a lot closer than any of us. Like any draft pick, there is a risk, but the odds are definitely in our favour. How does anyone know Rankine will be a certain gun at AFL level? No one does, that's why drafting isn't an exact science.

And all four of them are entering the back end of their careers. Like I said my hope is that they do. And if you are right and all 4 of them are back to their AA squad form of last year, then we are going to be right up there. Is that what your claiming? That injury free, these 4 guys are going to be AA squad contenders next year. If so, great. Lets see if you are right. I will be thrilled.

I'm not claiming anything, I was simply calling you out for making a ridiculous statement that none of those four had played consistent footy "for a long time" - it was hyperbole at its finest, but not the first time you've sprouted nonsense on here and I guess it's just getting a little difficult to swallow over and over again.

Yes you mentioned a "number of ducks" having to line up for that to occur, all that needs to occur is each one of them don't have:

a) an ultra late start to pre-season after playing in a GF - tick

b) a rushed preparation entering their heaviest training workloads of the year because of it - tick

c) they aren't still dealing with the niggles of the season just passed - tick

d) they wipe the slate clean after a horrid 2018, put it behind them and focus all their energies into getting a solid fitness base, sans niggles, entering the new season (something they weren't able to do last year) and more importantly, enjoying their footy again - given they are all senior members of the squad, I'd be inclined to believe this is a given.

If true, then the expectation of him should be what fans had for Doedee. Big expectations on him now.

If he genuinely was going to go 15-20, then it does change my view on the trade. He becomes the 3rd most valuable commodity in the overall trade, behind Gov and 13. Versus my feeling of him being the least valuable, as I thought he would be a late pick/rookie, so not even worth 40 or next years 3rd.

We’ll see. Sounds like a flag next year is in the bag. Good to know.

73 goals as a small forward in the WAFL, how did he slide so low is the question and same can be said about Kelly. Clearly recruiters weren't watching these 2 closely last year.

Agree, that would mean we technically got 2 1st rounders for McGovern which is way overs, but you never know, he might develop into a better player than McGovern being in the AFL system and we have shown we are very good at developing young players. But as the trade now stands, it isn't 2 1st rounder for McGovern.

Loose canon , missed interviews , combines , training sessions but was just a little bit more trustworthy than Dayle Garlett

Heck , he even got convicted the other day for a 6am drink driving session few months back

The guy is a freak show talent though , would have gone top 10
