Gaff is a restricted free agent. There is no way that West Coast will accept pick 18ish for Gaff.

The trading on draft day should enable clubs to get closer to full value for their gohomeboys.
Saints though may be able to offer Gaff money that the Weagles can't match as have much more cap space.

He said we need to be careful...not really Purple, he has two years left on a contract. The people wanting him need to be careful, like we found out with Gibbs.
What does the term “ we have to be careful” actually mean ?

There are journalistic terms that can infer something, but on analysis is a nothing phrase, that you can’t argue whether he was right or wrong

Who do people think Sanders is, I've got a pretty good idea but no confirmation?
Who’s Sanders ? ..... never heard of him, never seen a post ?

So lets see, Barrett has stated that Gov is worth a late first, early second rounder. He has now come out and said that Polec is worth a late first, early second. So he thinks they are worth the same pick wise.
Gov is being offered 800k per season, while Polec has been offered 750k. So they are valued the same money wise.
North are going to give up their pick 10 for him. So pick 10 for a player out of contract, who they value at 750k per year. So, Gov is being valued at 800k a year and has two years left on a contract.
So by my calculations we should be getting a pick 5 for Gov.

You know it doesn't work that way and other factors have to be considered.
If North have an understanding that Thomas will be bid on before their first, they have every right to sell it off for some later points that will still net them Thomas.

I still think that if Carlton receive that mid round PP (~#12) then that will largely form part of the McGovern deal, should the deal still go ahead.
If though the AFL go feral and award (?) Carlton a top end PP (That's highly unlikely but obviously not impossible), what then?
Probably much too early to speculate on all possible scenarios, isn't it?

Damo's (non)-sliding doors for this week:

If
Neale says he wants out ...

then
it's really simple. Tell him he's not going anywhere. There are certain times when the hard, brutal call has to be made, and for this club that time is now. If that means Neale sits out 2019, then that's his decision.

Also as stupid as this sounds I had someone from another state (same employer) post on an internal forum that he heard Carlton are getting Pick 4 as a PP
Possible draft day scenario
Pick 1 carlton
2,3,4 gold coast
5 carlton
6 goldcoast
7-> every other sucker

This is garbage.

The AFL is approaching WWE level of contrivance.

This would be as much draft tampering as anything that has ever happened in AFL history and the AFL itself will be a party to it. Absolute joke.
