He said what he wanted to do in his exit interview. Notice he hasn't said a club? A bunch of players around the league have asked for trades in their exit interviews. Your club just doesn't have any players that anyone else would want.

Let it be known very clearly, Carlton Football Club are not desperate to trade for Mitch McGovern. Rather it is McGovern himself who is wanting out of the Adelaide Football Club.

Well that's good to know. Mitch can now look forward to the nice sunny beaches of the Gold Coast or perhaps regular family functions back in Fremantle.

Do you football? No matter when he tells the club he wants out, he goes in the trade period. Much the same as Polec for Pear. It is a good thing that players make the announcement during their exit interviews as it gives time for the club's recruiting staff to get their heads around what's happening. They can negotiate and tie up the deal before trade period starts.
