I honestly think these decisions will go down as a major turning point for the competition. I have never been so baffled as I have been by this weekends MRO decisions, and that's saying a lot because they've made some truly weird decisions over the years. The Bedford/Rosas juxtaposition is batshit insane. The AFL have lost the plot.
Wait till Daicos or Cripps do something similar. 3 interstate players getting made an example of so that they have a free pass next time one of their favourites does something dumb.

Daicos should be scrutinised for every single action he does from now. Have the microscope on him for every single tackle he makes. Hold the AFL accountable and see if they stick to their guns. The backlash and fallout from one of their star players like Nick Daicos being rubbed out for a regulation tackle would be interesting to say the least.

So you on purpose hit a guy in the head with your hand or elbow you get only 1 week
On purpose you take a guy out off the ball who is not looking like Rankine you get 3 weeks

If you tackle a player and they get up fine 0 weeks and often a free for holding the ball.
If you tackle a player the exact same way and they accidentally hit their head 3 weeks. The same as Rankine got.
So should or Rankine got 6 weeks or more? How can it be 3 weeks for both.

Maynard knocks a guy out who never plays again. Zero weeks play in a GF mate you are from a big VFL team. Sorry to offend you.
If you play for a vic side and up for a brownlow you get off on a technicality knocking someone out
If you play for the swans and accidentally hit someone in the face you loose your chance for a brownlow

It's ironical that the AFL lectures us about respect for umpires.

Before they recently shut up shop about commenting on individual decisions, they even came up a few novel explanations for one or two blatant howlers

Luke the cringeworthy snow job Laura Kane tried on for the egregiously bad non call of a 50 m penalty in the death throes of the Collingwood/North game.

Yet here they are refusing to accept the decision of their own umpires

The umpire who right on the spot, decided that the Cameron tackle wasn't "dangerous" and didn't even warrant a free kick.

And the umpire in the Richmond/GWS game who couldn't find a free against Bedford.

The AFL is essentially implying that those two umpires are incompetent

If that's the case both should be dropped next week.

Reckon that will happen? FAT chance

The hypocrisy is astounding

This is what stands out like a sore thumb the most.
Suspensions are meant for TERRIBLE obvious actions, yet the umpires can’t see it right under their nose?
They didn’t even reverse the free on GC when Rosas lifted an elbow.

People say it’s not the umpires fault, I call bull. They are fairly incompetent not to notice the bleeding obvious.

Christian and the tribunal need to hang their heads in shame. Bedford's tackle wasn't worth 3 weeks. Probably wasn't worth 1 week.

Yep.. if they want to suspend for a tackle and accident head bump
1 week only.
If it a slinging stupid tackle then 3-6.
Or start giving higher for deliberate stuff or off the ball stuff
As said how can Rankines hit be 3 weeks and Bedford/Cameron get the same?
Even Davies is not 3 weeks 2 at max

What is it going to be touch football next

Must be said re. Davies, that he's right. The ball was there to be won, and he went for the ball. It was in dispute and they both had rights to attack the football. The alternative they are suggesting is to run into him face first which was likely to lead to both players getting concussed.

Rosas deserved 2 or 3 for an intentional elbow to the head but I just can't see how in a situation where a player went for a loose ball, without bumping or tackling, can end up with a 3 week suspension.

This is also not coming as a Suns fan, given that Davies is not even selected in our team usually, it's not really that important for us that he gets off. I just think its a slippery slope to give someone a suspension for an accident that was caused by two players both contesting a loose ball without an intentional act: bump or tackle being applied.

What the actual **** has this great game come to?

Reward the tackler

Protect the player with the ball

But if there's a perfect tackle and an accidental outcome that's an accident and no liability

What's next?

Someone takes mark of the year & lands on their opponents head & KO's them = 3 weeks but a FREE CAR???

Someone lays a perfect shepherd and a player falls & KO's themselves = 3 weeks???

Take a sliding mark and end up into the fence and KO yourself = 3 weeks for the team mate that kicked it???

Yeah I actually think Davies would be integral over the next few weeks if we have him, Touk is out for 3-5 weeks still. And while it was only one game, Davies played better last week than Touk had for the last month.

Our midfield has gone to sleep on the road numerous times this year, so there actually would be a chance that Davies as a bigger body could be the difference for us in a must win road game coming up.

I feel like starting a thread which rewrites the rule book from scratch, based on consistent principles that players can go into a match knowing what they can and cannot do.

We just don’t.have that anymore.

Someone attempts a game changing smother and lands on their opponents head and ends their career = 3 weeks but…. no, actually 0 weeks..
