NAB Cup 2013

I want to see what our new recruits (Ben Jacobs, Jordan Gysberts, Daniel Currie, Taylor Garner, Taylor Hine, etc.) can do.
I also want to see players who have been on the list awhile (Majak Daw, Levi Greenwood, Brad Mckenzie, Ayden Kennedy, Aaron Mullett)
play really well and try to break into our round 1 squad.
No more injuries to players like Daniel Wells & Leigh Adams please.

I'd like to see Essendon not fly to Wangaratta this time

Oh, I'd love to see them do just that for a laugh (it is the shits and giggles cup after all), but somehow I doubt they will.

As for what I'd like to see...I'll be out of the country, so no injuries and maybe a few new names in the bests for when I read the match reports.

Will be interesting to see if Mick trials some different game plans & players in different roles.
I wouldn't be surprised if a fair amount of Carltons best 22 were playing

I have no doubt that we will see a few different things in terms of both game plan and player positioning.

We'll see a reasonably strong side but to be honest I wouldn't be against resting most of our older players for the first round. These 20 minute halves do nothing for me and there's no real reason to go all out in them. We have plenty of kids waiting in the wings and I'd be inclined to base the first round squad around those players to give them a chance to show what they have to offer. The full strength squad can play together in the latter rounds of the preseason, be it as part of the NAB Cup or the practice matches.

Really not fussed as to whether or not we win the competition. Means very little.

No injuries! First second and third year players all visibly showing and doing more and putting there hands up for permanent spots in the 22.
Couldn't give a stuff other than that, all just waiting for round one

Many still knock the NAB Cup, but it has generally been a better preview of the season proper in the last few years (you have to go all the way back to 2007 to find the last team that made the NAB Cup GF who didn't play finals that year and 9 of the 10 actually made the top 5, with 7 of them going on to make the prelim, so clubs seem to taking it more seriously these days) and it certainly has been for us, as we've taken our poor preseason form and momentum into the season in the past couple, getting off to poor starts of varying degrees and as such I am looking for us to be in much better form and with much more momentum by the end of it than in the past two years.

It also gives us some games to get more used to the way Watters and co. want us to play, without needing to be worried about the result. It's surely a better way to practise the game plan than at training.

I don't particularly care if we win games, but I definitely want us to be playing pretty good footy, the style we want to be playing, especially from the 2nd round onwards and to hit the season with much more momentum and confidence than we have in the last two years.

Structurally, I am hoping to see someone tall from our forward line playing down back, to see how they go there, as we have numerous key forward options and still lack height in defence and I'm also looking forward to seeing how we structure up in the forward line, as we could have all of Riewoldt, Stanley, Wilkes, Kosi, Lee and maybe even Hickey fighting for the 3 key forward spots for R1.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing a bunch of those we've picked up in the offseason, too, in the R1 mini games, particularly Tom Lee and Tom Hickey and some of those we picked up the year before who we haven't seen much of yet. Over the years the younger ones who have performed well for us in the preseason games have regularly gone on and played well in the future in the premiership season, so I'm looking forward to seeing which of them do so this year.

Looking forward to it! :thumbsu:

I'd like to see us win it again after our moral victory last year losing to proven salary cap cheats :p

Couple of players have apparently had big pre seasons for us, Tunbridge has effectively changed his body shape and so I hope he gets a run to see the improvement.

Be good to see Brad Dick run out on an AFL field too.
