While it was a generally positive night, I notice we got beaten fairly well in the centre clearances 13-7, although we only narrowly lost the clearance count overall 23-21. Rich had 7 (4 centre clearances), Rockliff 5 (1 centre clearance) and Moloney 2 with a bunch of others on 1. Beams and Michael had 1 centre clearance each.

I think that's where we missed Redden. He'll come back in and solve that issue, no worries :thumbsu:

Huge weekend in Melbourne but we've loved every minute of it! Just landed back home. Big week ahead!

Stolen from Twitter;
Can't wait till Friday night. Bring it home boys!!

Lets face it no one gives a crap about is game in Melbourne, it's only Bris and even at half strength the Pies will win.

I like the way Snrub thinks!

Am I the only one who enjoyed watching Darren Jolly have a Barry Crocker last night?

Haven't been able to stand the bloke since he switched to the Pies. Just exudes the self-entitled smugness of that club. Still yet to see him cop a free kick against him without having a bit of a cry.
Loved the mark Longer took over him.

Ive settled on my favourite part of last night: Ace dumping Jolly in a tackle when Jolly tried to claim a ball bounced off someone else is considered a mark if you catch it.

And the resulting goal to us for it.

Billy's pack mark in the square in the 1st.

Rog's smother on Lynch

but tops for me was Peirce Hanley's goal = his speed to get to the ball first was amazing - just came out of nowhere.

In regards to the free against Rocky is the fact that there was high contact made to the head. It was always my belief that the head was sacrosanct. I am know confused as what is more important; contact to the head or contact below the knees. It's self explanatory in my eyes. He was also evidently the aggressor and first to the ball.

It was a good night but boy was it hot - 35.5 degree day; it must have still been in the low 30's for almost all of the match.

There seemed more people there than the 12,100 official attendance (I would have guessed 16,000) - but a fair proportion were Lions supporters, maybe 40%. The Lions supporters were mostly down the northern end, so it was a great atmosphere to be sitting together. Some big Brisbane chants went up in the 2nd half - made it feel like it was a Lions home game.

We seemed to butcher a lot of chances for goal, but in the end we dominated as I thought we would. Longer was great, Yeo was really good down back. Karnezis looks like he is ready to be a star - he just has class written all over him every time he touches the ball. Martin was really good. Of course Rockliff, Rich and Bewick were good too.

Docherty did some good things, and some shockers - he just needs more time to develop. Clarke and Michael both impressed me - they will never be stars but both could be solid players and deserve to be on the senior list.

The couple of things that I didn't like were: centre clearances going 13 to 7 to the pies; and our man-on-man defence of kick-ins, which led to a number of fast breaks.

Going to go out on a pretty short string here and say yes, Moloney WILL be the scoop of the Free Agency period.

Hes going to help Rich, Redden and Rockliff immensely.
Moloney added plenty of grunt around the ground and will be an excellent pick although does need to work on his kicking disposal. He put in a couple of up and unders to Brownie that were tailor made for the defender.

Took the 1-39 line @ $3.10 here...
I took the 39.5+ margin @ $12.

I hedged this bet with the 1-39 at $3.10

If it weren't for our inaccuracy in front of the sticks, and more level umpiring, I probably would have gotten the big one.

Oh well, fingers crossed my bet on the Lions for the NAB Cup @ $34 pulls through!

I did the opposite. Went 1-39 & hedged on 40+ :)

Any reports/photos from the family day today?....couldn't get there.
We went, to sum it up organised chaos.... heaps of people, probably more than expected due to the win and limited time available.
We arrived at 9.45am and the queues for the photo booth and autograph area were already long and were ridiculous by the time the players arrived at 10.30am The merchandise stand was very busy and it appeared there was only one register. We picked up two of the members caps after waiting 10-15 minutes.
The players/coaches were split into four groups and were 'ferried' between each area. ( photos, autographs, activities and museum ) The activities were held in the change rooms which were packed, the kids did handball and kicking to a player and handball target. My boys participated and loved it ! Pity these activities couldn't be held on the ground....
It would have been much better having more than one area for photos and autographs. I assume lots were taken but lots would have missed out. Loved the museum and that's where we were able to get some photos but it wasn't advertised that players would be there, otherwise we would've stayed and got the bulk of the players as they came through. Jumper presentation was good but no Craig Huggins.... where was he ??? We had some younger dude from cannot remember which radio station, did an okay job but kept referring to jerseys... (NRL) AFL is either guernseys or jumpers !! jerseys are also cows.
The membership area looked very busy too.
