Nathan Bracken has proved to us time after time that he is not up to international standards. In the one dayers he was slughtered and in the few tests hes played his record is not great. Why would the selecters choose him to play - surely there are better players than him going round in domestic cricket.

The poeple i would pick ahead of him for this test match or macgill, lewis and rofe. Lewis and Rofe are underrated but will sadly never go at the top level due to playing in wrong state teams.

What do you think of bracken and the people who should have been picked before him

While I believe Rofe is underrated - his Australian prospects? I mean, hey, I'm a South Australian, but he doesn't cut the cheese for national selection yet.
 
Gillespie. If you're willing to ignore about 30 Tests for Hayden, then why not ignore 3 Tests for a player who has shown an incredible amount of class in his career and also has the stats to back it up.

3 tests? Where you been the last year? Dont let stats fool you with Dizzy, just look at the opposition, he was looking out of touch last summer, he has lost it, the Ashes wasnt the start of it

Do you actually have any clue what you're talking about?

He was the best bowler in the Pura Cup 2 or so seasons back.

The only reason his named slipped back was because of Shaun Tait's emergence. Last year wasn't his best season, but check the 2 or 3 seasons prior and you'll see why many on here have called for his selection. He's a better bowler than Lee, Bracken and Clark and he's proven it over time in the toughest domestic cricket competition in the world.

How quickly some 'supposed' fans forget. :)
 
I remember quite clearly. Snagged about 30 wickets in both 02/03 and 03/04, but his form did hinder last season (primarily because Tait was so damaging). He deserved to be called up prior to the start of last season, after three pretty good campaigns. Played an 'A' game or two, so that was reasonable reward.

Most still underrate him, but on his current form over the past year (averaged 31 with the ball last year), it's easy for people to do that. He's got a real chance to prove himself up until Christmas with Tait out. He'll be our main strike bowler and the one who will lead us. If he can really prove his worth, I don't think an international call-up is all that far away.

My comment was more directed at the First Test selection, and merely based on his start to the season with the ball. Match figures of 3-136 in the NSW game didn't help his cause (although it's not fair to single him out, because those figures make it look bad, when he was probably the pick of our lot).

Bracken would have been picked on the strength of his performance in the Cup final last year and his previous record at the gabba .

I don't think too highly of him but he does have the ability to swing the ball , and as a left armer provides some variety to the attack . I wouldn't be too suprised to see him perform quite well.
 
I don't rate Bracken folks. I don't think he is test match standard and fully expect him to have an average series for you guys. He is on a par with Pedro Collins, in fact I think Collins is better.

Not a bad comparison , but they are both left armers with the ability to swing the ball if conditions are right for them . They may be average test level bowlers but left armers who can swing the ball can prove quite a handfull .
 
Bracken is a genuine swing bowler. Under the right conditions, he is almost unplayable. Conversly, when the ball doesn't swing, he is a liability. A poor man's Hoggard if you will. Not the worst option for 3rd seamer by a long stretch, especially in the humidity of the Gabba.
 
Who's a better batting all rounder: Lee or Bracken? by the way, I heard somewhere Bracken was a specialist batsman in the under 18s or something like that, is that true?
