True, law of averages I guess. Even with that Dusty pick we only got him because Melbourne got the duds we actually wanted first LOL

look at CFC, a thousands shots at the stumps and even they are starting to rise like Melbourne, chasing higher end and higher rated plyers that have slipped for different reasons

You do realise the 5 picks was two years ago and one swallow does not make a summer.

Brown is looking likely, Gibcus hopefully recovers from his set back and the other three hopefully can contribute and progress. Three of those 5 where picks in the twenties and it is debatable they are rated higher than the those picked in the twenties this year last night.

Apart from Dusty and a few others with the odd diamond, RFC's list is hardly screaming draft top liners. The draft is not everything but talent helps

Not everyone hits the jackpot buying dragon cigarettes is more the point!
I agree but what can you do when you win finish up at the pointy end of the ladder. Nice to have a pick, but we got Taranto who is good enough to win our B & F. Hopper may not turn out to be such a good selection, but it is one pic only this season and he may repay us more this year.

We all love young talent coming through, but they are starting to come through now after a bit of time maturing. A lot of the really top talent are very good at the junior level are good to go earlier than the later talent, but they don't necessarily become much better player than some of the juniors that take a bit longer. Higgins for example. Dursma has just been let go by PA. Most of GWS and GC's list are top draft pics.

Schoenmaker and Stevens being our picks will certainly drive some discussion, especially among those who love the narrative of Balta being moved forward.

Huge upside. However he lacks a nasty streak. Doesn’t crash packs hard. Very talented though.
Lacks a nasty streak? You mean he's a softkok?

Assuming the Richmond Board Phantom Drafters are on the money and not taking the p!$$, these players are still available:
Ollie Murphy
Schoenmaker,
ZZ Top,
George Stevens
Mitch Edwards
Angus Hastie
Tew Jiath
Archer Reid
Archie Roberts
Dirty Sanchez
Luke Lloyd.

However, I'm going to tune out tonight & get excited tomorrow when the rookie draft commences.
It's where we do our best work.

split draft days mean all the players recruited from now are 1 day less development

Rigged

Schoenmaker looks a bit slow and one paced, not sure that will translate as an AFL back where you zone and he may end up on a small. Not tall enough to take the big forwards. Could he play midfield, sort of got a bit of a Bont look about him.
