Portfolio NBL - 1992+ with season ladders and finals, fictional NBL universe.

I will be starting a fictional NBL from the start of the 1992 season and will go until the start of the 2018 -19 season and will include the change from winter to summer seasons. I will be attempting to complete new logos and uniforms for all clubs and I will be posting the seasons once I have completed that season with my trusty dice.

The dice once rolled will give me a score.
Scores will be decided as,
1 = 1 point
2 = 2 ponts
3 = 3 pointer
4 = turnover
5 = foul
6 = timeout/ end of quarter

Top six finals

Best of 3 finals will be Highest finisher Home, then Away, then Home (if needed).

Best of 5 finals will be Highest Home for the first two games, then away twice, then home (if needed).

I will be making a basic basketball template that will cater for all clubs, the logos once done will only have minor changes to keep up with the times.

Week One
  • Best of 3, Elimination Semi-final A: 3rd vs 6th
  • Best of 3, Elimination Semi-final B: 4th vs 5th
Week Two
  • Best of 3, Qualification Final: 1st vs 2nd
  • Best of 3, Elimination Final: Winners of Elimination Semi-final A vs Winners of Elimination Semi-final B
Week Three
  • Best of 3, Preliminary Final: Losers of Qualification Match vs Winners of Elimination Final
Week Four
  • Best of 5, Grand Final: Winners of Qualification Match vs Winners of Final Qualifier

I’m more interested in the unis than the scores (a team could hypothetically score zero points if I’m reading that right? Given every roll is evenly weighted?)

But this should be good nonetheless.

The scores, and season ladders are merely to add flavour.
Just like Jay-Z and the nets.

Ok so first up we have Adelaide at home against Geelong

NBLade1.png NBLgee1.png
Adelaide started the game fast and pushed out to a 20 to 6 first quarter but they also had 4 fouls relatively early, the second quarter seen the Supercats come back and the first half ended with Adelaide on 35 points and Geelong on 31. The second half seen much more scoring and the 36ers end up in foul trouble, the game ended with Adelaide 90 points to Geelong 87.

Game 2 sees Brisbane up against the Gold Coast who changed their identity and colours before the season from Cougars to Rollers.

Brisbane playing at home lead at all changes but couldn't hold on when it got tough and lost to the newly named Rollers by 3 points. Final scores Brisbane 76 Gold Coast 79.

Canberra host the Sydney Kings.

NBLcan1.png NBLsyd1.png

In what started off as an even game until the third quarter where Sydney blew out to a 15 point lead by the end of the quarter and seen Canberra get into big foul trouble with 12 team fouls. The last quarter was a bit closer but the Kings went onto win the game comfortably by 16 points, 86 to 70.

Hobart are at home against South East Melbourne Magic.

NBLtas1.png NBLSEM1.png

Hobart started off nicely pushing out to a six point lead by three quarter time but the Magic's stars took off and never looked back and ended up wining by 12 points, 88 to 76.

North Melbourne pushed hard at the start but could not keep up with the Tigers and eventually went down 78 to 70.

Illawarra play host to the other NSW country city.

NBLill1.png NBLnew1a1.png

Illawarra never looked like being beaten by the Falcons, they lead always and at one stage they were twenty points up. The game ended and the Hawks won 98 to 86.

Perth Wildcats had the bye

I've tried to put something together for footy. I have only figured out how to do baseball so far. But for footy, I basically took a 30-sided die and rolled it twice (30=0) - the first for Goals and the second for behinds with the thirty being 0. If we wanted to include super-goals, I would use my 12-sided die for those with 12 equaling zero as opposed to 30. This in lack of a more sophisticated system.

Mero had a really good dice footy formula, although I can’t exactly remember how he did it.

I figured since the highest I think I remember seeing was 28 goals and 25 behinds in AFL play, that was why I used a 30-sided die. hence, higher goal tally in a dice league than in reality. Even though I know there have been scores in the 200s.

I used to do dice footy back in the day.
Here was my go at it.
Three dice, one dice for each team, one dice for umpires.
Roll the umpires dice first. 1 = tackle, holding the ball - hand over to opposition. 2 = tackle, ball up. 3 = out of bounds, ball in. 4 = out of bounds on the full, hand over to opposition. 5 = play on. 6 = 50 metre penalty.
Next roll the home team dice. 1 = mark. 2 = Ruck tap win. 3 = shot on goal, roll again even = goal, 1 and 5 behind, 3 = out on the full. 4 = Strong defence = turnover. 5 = Big mark, kick to lead inside 50, roll again like 3. 6 = Run down the wing for a solo goal, roll again like 3.
Away team roll. Same as home roll.

For a while I used a fourth dice to add a few extra plays like blocking and rebound 50's extra.
It's actually quite fun.

I like the umpires thing... good spin on the game.but when would a game end?

I had a heap other rules, to many to write down here.
Basically you roll twenty times a quarter.

The end of the regular season for 1992.

Based on the system I used, I have a Can Am footy league... I would have to dig up the notebook I used for it wherever it is but I know I have it as it periodically pops up on me. I do have a basketball one and I rolled that 30-sided die four times (a roll per quarter).

1 and 2 Miss
3 & 4 Behind
5 Goal
6 Goal and roll again.
Same question, when/how was it decided the match ended?

Home team 10 rolls per quarter, away team 9.
