Loving the club eyeing & selecting players that are really good mates...

Brandon White & Bailey Rice
Jade Gresham & Nick O'Kearney
Patrick McCartin & Hugh Goddard
Jack Billings & Jack Sinclair
Jack Newnes & Seb Ross

Don't know whether it's a deliberate tactic but it certainly bodes well for player retention in future I'd imagine

Excellent strategy. Importantly It's all of our first round picks for the last three years. Bodes well for a great team environment and player retention.

IMO it's absolutely a deliberate tactic, and a bloody smart one.

Annoying one-track record voice in the background: ahem, don't forget...
Mav Weller & Eli Templeton

Also, can Lonie squeeze in to the Hugh/Paddy duo for a cheeky threesome? They were all playing together the year before they joined weren't they?

Maybe Mav and Eli don't qualify because there's a few years between them, despite them both being Burnie boys...

For that matter, what's the link between Seb Ross (NB Rebels) and Jack Newnes (Northern Knights)?

Cos if it its just that they were drafted together, that's not really the same as being pre-existing mates.

Didn't Newnes & Longer co-captain Northern Knights together?

Im sure I read that they became really good mates through playing state rep footy from U-16s onwards

Except that Seb would have been Vic Country and Jack, Vic Metro...

Did/do they live together?

Having gone to a lot of the club stuff last year and this year there seems to be a few cliques that the players hang in. Seb seems a bit of a loner or was with other quieter guys like Murdoch and Jack Newnes is often with Jack Steven. There are a few who seem to get around a number of groups. Bruce, Gilbert and Geary were often in a big group and then there are some Sandy groups and new guy groups too. I don't know about outside the club though.
