Chesser showed a bit.
Petrol did a few good things
Long same
Gibney tried
JJ till he went off

Coaching? Why not get Long into the middle? OA into the play? Give tackling lessons
No! Keep OA out of the midfield. He is literally the only thing that this team has going for it at the moment. Keep him out of harm's way.

Very forgettable game , I'm not angry just disappointed that we ran out of legs in the 4th quarter ..

Pretty sure we ran out of legs in the 1st quarter

Kudos to whoever named the thread. Despite a handful of players having half decent games, there are really no positives to come out of that. I'm old enough to have seen most Eagles games from year one on and, given that we were playing the bottom team, that is without doubt the worst performance in the history of the club.

Yes, our injury list means there are players playing who needed WAFL time first. It also means there are players playing who should only ever play WAFL. But even given all of that, the dispirited lack of effort at times - as bad as anything during the COVID/injuries debacle of 2022 - is really inexcusable. Players not even bothering to try to tackle an opposition player cruising past with the ball. Something is rotten.

Dropped marks, hack kicks, fumbles, out on the fulls ... we've certainly displayed a full repertoire of skill errors this season.

Unless something, somehow, miraculously improves, we will cop a 30-goal loss at some point this season against one of the better sides.

Jamaine Jones' injury (one of our best players this year) is just the icingmanure on top of the cake.

If not for contracts and the fact that the talent pool runs out eventually on draft night, you could legitimately delist at least half our squad at the end of this season. My fear is that from the hole we've dug ourselves into, it will take five or six years for us to be contending for finals again.

I actually really like Simmo and I know it would be a very expensive sacking, but if the rest of the season is continuation of what we saw today there surely has to be a massive cleanout off-field as well as on.

The club's priority now has to be doing only what will get us back to being competitive (as in genuinely contending for a flag, not for 7th-12th) and hopefully managing to retain the young talent while doing so, as you could understand the likes of Ned Long (and Harley Reid, if we draft him rather than splitting the pick) looking elsewhere when we're clearly going to be crap for quite a while.

It's hard to believe we won a Premiership less than five years ago.

Nobody seems to point a finger at them in the rush, but what are the assistant coaches doing? It's my understanding that these days they are the ones with a more hands on role in training the skills and moves. The head coach sits above that. If so, they should be feeling some of the heat.
Negatives are current coaches are pretty uninspiring lot given the last few years:

Luke Webster - Forwards coach;
Daniel Pratt - Backs coach;
Matthew Knights - Mids Coach;
Kyal Horsley as Mid coach.

So from 2018, we brought in Horsley and Knights for the following outs:

Sam Mitchell;
Nathan Van Berlo;
Drew Petrie;
Jaymie Graham;
Adrian Hickmott;
Adam Selwood
Adam Simpson (whoops my bad).

I honestly thought last year was rock bottom for the club. That things couldnt get worse and we could only go up from here.

Clearly I was wrong.

What do you even do at this point? Everyone from the coach to the S&C/ fitness team to a slew of players need to be shown the door, but you cant make such sweeping changes wholesale.

2 years in a row of having the most horrendous injury list in the league points to incompetence rather than luck, and the inability of a team to run out games at this stage of the season is nearly unheard of. I guess we could start there?

Didn't we go through all this teeth gnashing after the Carlton loss? We don't have enough available players and are not fielding an AFL quality side. We will get spanked until we do.

This could have been our weakest side ever fielded. Darling and TB out from last week - no wonder we couldn't score or defend.

The club's focus needs to be getting players fit and on field. Then trim all the deadwood at the end of the year.

I remember reading an article quoting HEdwards coach from junior days. He was saying how HE was a competitive beast who hated losing. What the hell happened between then and now?
I suppose he has played very little footy lately; same Chesser;same Long!
It must be very hard (esp for youngsters) to be rushed back into such a shit team with so little physical support

Rotham, Edwards, West, Xon, and Clarke will never be good enough, Jamieson doesn't look like it either. Gaff should retire while he still has a modicum of dignity.
Jones was going ok when he got injured.
Sheed was good, Kelly kept trying but he gets no help around the ball which makes it tough.
Foley wasn't shocking. Long did a couple of nice things as he does.

Keeping some old blokes around to guide the youngsters isn't much of a strategy when all the old blokes are sitting in the stands.
Much as it is tempting to join the sack everyone crowd I don't think that will achieve much at this stage.
Kelly having to play like that is hard to watch having to be an inside mid when you are a forward of the ball type of player sucks

He really does try his back side off he definitely has been a positive for us the last few years !!

I really hope we have the right people to develop Ginbey could honestly go either way from here.

At the moment he is playing second to the ball and flat footed at stoppages.

Crazy how much the game has changed in the last 2 years need to have pace and swerve ability all across the field !!

I'm back bitches !!!!

Isn't Jarrad Schofield still at the club?

Far out, what a bunch of losers that is. Absolute bottom of the barrel stuff that is

I doubt Horsley is on more then 60k a year

There's no doubt this is the lowest point in the club's history. Makes 2010 and the Judge years seem like a mild hiccup.

I think I would happily cop a 100pt loss every week for the rest of the season rather than watch XON and Gaff play another game in west coast eagles colors.
I know lots on here dont rate XON but he was one of the few winners today

had a good 3 quarters on will day who has been great for hawks this year.

might be able to become a hutchings type.

What is Kenny doing, is he free on weekends?

That's really priority #1 and should have been last offseason. At least this season we've seen signs of good drafting and a game plan that can take it up to teams while we develop but the lack of available players is now preventing us from playing that style and is also preventing us from resting players that could do with one. If that isn't sorted out this year, Nesbitt needs to go.
