I was in and out of the car, so missed a lot. But I did hear something about Blackfriars ... combining with the Crows? Not sure what's going on there.
I think it was mentioned earlier in here Blackfriars just signed a contract/lease on I assume use of those ovals (could have been to pools even, the post didnt specify) so the connection being made would be to do with that

That had an SMS come through stating that Blackfriars were very much looking forward to having the Crows there. I gather they would still share the ground and realise it would be in top knick with the Crows being there.

There was no confirmation on who actually sent the SMS and whether they were connected with Blackfriars or just had a rumour.

The main oval next to the Aquatic centre is called St Dominics Oval and it's used by Blackfriars school football and cricket teams and their old scholars football team.

Assume it's something to do with that.

They still use black paint for the lines? Thought that was weird back in the day.
I think there was a period they played touch footy there mid week so had different coloured lines for the two playing fields

remember doing the same run top to those ovals outside the aquatic centre.
AFC players wouldn't be running along prospect rd as part of training though. There would have to be an arrangement where we had a desirable use of the ovals.

I did wonder about the closed training aspect and how that could be achieved there.
If closed trainings as the norm is the ongoing plan then it would pose a challenge. If there was more openness (which would be ideal with a more central training location and ideally facilities for public use overlooking the oval such as cafe) then it wouldn't be so bad as we could have closed trainings once a week at AO and occasionally use other grounds if needed (like we have in the past with Thebarton)
If we do build a new training facility I imagine we'll still have indoor setup like the Shed we have now where we can work away from prying eyes.

Smithson said Port are gonna crack the s***ts if the Government helps Crows with $$$. Ironic I know...

Just one of the reasons the Crows will keep all their plans very close to the chest.

I’m going back to 1988/89, I don’t recall any lines outside of the ordinary footy oval stuff. Even so, the lines should be white for the primary purpose and then whatever colour you like for the rest. Your post does bring back memories of playing badminton and the array of competing lines on the court. “Out! Shit, sorry, was looking at the wrong line, should have played at that, your point.”

On the coverage for the lions game they said they would move into their new HQ for the 2021 season, they got the greenlight for it early 2018 and had been planning it for at least a year before that as they already had the plans done and renders of it created. So even if we got the approval for the land today we're probably 2-3 years away from moving in. So any existing contracts to use the ovals would be finished.

The timeline is relevant because we should be looking to build a similar place, one that can be a home ground for AFLW and SANFL matches.

Are there any oval lights there now? I'd assume we'd want them. You just know that would be a big issue with the usual North Adelaide NIMBY's...

I doubt we would need lights, don’t we train during the day?

before a night game we'd have a night session as the main session I think.

home games no issue as we would usually get AO for that. Away games would be the ones
Also if as the post above suggested, we wanted something we could use for SANFL/AFLW then lights would be highly useful (esp AFLW) but im not sure we would get the ability for it to be set up in a way of use for that (lights, enclosed area, stand, etc)

Ideally, if you will be playing under lights with a yellow ball that weekend, it's good to train at night with a yellow ball, our thursday training session is usually at the same time our match will be on. Also the girls often train at night due to a lot of the girls having day jobs.

memorial drive with use of AO #2 sounds ok.

wasn't there talk of changing the golf course and then repurposing that area closest to AO? That could have been a nice spot

There's 3 golf courses. The par 3 along the river, the decent south course and the ordinary north course. We could create a brilliant 18 hole championship course that includes holes along the Torrens and release land back to the parklands. Win:win.

I think that was the line of thinking. Combining north and south course into 1 top quality one, cant remember the plan with the par 3.

Looks like we are going to do the heavy lifting again.

Over on the Powah board they are alredy jumping up and down "what about us, what do we get" after their upgrade promised by Mr X/Labour fell through at the last election.
Which thread? I enjoy reading their conspiracies
