Drove past the aquatic centre nth adel yesterday....could only think 'what if?'
Such a moronic decision by the council. That area is dead and in need of an uplift. We could have turned it into a magnificent piece of nth adel.
Oh well.

The small minority that oppose Thebby are going to go down swinging it sounds. Maybe they can tie themselves to some trees?
Glue their butts to the skate park?

Ah well, they're building a new aquatic centre anyway. It is needed.

In reference to some of the attitudes posted here towards the residents that show valid concern and interest in their local area and park.
So despite a number of their concerns being alleviated especially with the recent changes to the expressway, they are pushing ahead with being miserable ****wits

An Adelaide Now article up, residents not happy with Olsens comments and sprouting bullshit we are after more land.

Torrens to Darlington flyover

Comparison fly-through of the Torrens to Darlington designs.
West Torrens residents fear the Adelaide Football Club are eyeing off even more community land in their bid to adopt Thebarton Oval and Kings Reserve as their new home.
It comes after Crows chairman John Olsen told The Advertiser the revised Torrens to Darlington design was a major boost in the club’s quest to acquire the precinct.
Mr Olsen said the new design would allow people attending Crows AFLW games at Thebarton Oval to park on Kings Reserve.

He also highlighted the new green space adjacent to the North-South corridor as an area that will provide “further options to adopt suggestion from residents during the consultation period.”
But 5031 community facilities and green spaces action group spokesman Dave Conroy said the area had nothing to do with the lease that the Crows are applying for.
“We have been working in good faith and were hoping the revised plans for South Rd would provide a win-win for the club and community, but these comments suggest the club might be trying to handball some of its commitments to local residents,” Mr Conroy said.
“Mr Olsen said the Crows want to be a good neighbour, yet before they even move in they are already eyeing off even more of our community land and indicating they should have a say in how it will be used.”

He said the additional green space adjacent to the North-South corridor was welcomed, but should not be at the expense of Kings Reserve.
“We do not want to go backwards in our tree canopy cover,” Mr Conroy said.

“There is an opportunity for the Crows and West Torrens Council to consider a staged approach to their planned second training space.”
Mr Conroy called on Mr Olsen to meet them at the table and hear residents concerns.
Given the Crows’ first two proposals at North Adelaide and Brompton featured a much smaller sized second training space, we feel this staged approach is a reasonable compromise,” Mr Conroy said.
“Mr Olsen says in the paper he wants to ‘counter the misinformation that’s in the marketplace’ and ‘explain exactly what the Crows are doing’, but has yet to make any effort to engage with his potential new neighbours and elaborate on what these are.”

These residents need to grow the **** up, get a life and stop using this as a project to occupy their free time with.

It's not a smelting plant that's being proposed, FFS.

He didn't say we wanted to use that land or take more land elsewhere because that land now existed, he simply said that this is another piece of land being planned at the same time that gives residents the ability to get what they want in the local area.

ie they may get more of their requests than had been envisaged, not that we will get more than we anticipated

That is a classic case of looking for something to take issue with and putting 1 + 1 together to get 3.

These are posts by a resident that was at the Kings Park get together over the weekend. This person seems to be actively working with the AFC and the council to come to a good outcome for all concerned and in good faith. This is a person that seems rational in their concerns, concerns that I think are very valid.
This isn’t a person, along with the other attendees, that deserve what comes across as immature posts about concerns for an area of their community. It’s why I see many comments as moronic.

I’m no longer a resident in this council area but I’ve lived nearby Thebby Oval for many years, am still around that area a lot and have many friends still living in this area, not sure how many on here have a similar connection to the area if any at all.

FWIW, I’m happy for the development and I hope it’s a good outcome for everyone, I just think some people need to take a wider perspective on it than just the myopic one of a supporter of a football club.

Well that’s a different tone to what the leader of the group is spruking in the paper.

And they want the same access to Kings reserve but they will now get access to Thebby oval, can you see why they come across as a bunch of whingers?

I'm sorry but comparing the space at Thebarton to what was going to be the footprint at brompton or North Adelaide is irrelevant. One of the reasons we are going to Thebarton is because we can have a larger footprint that better meets our needs
And you can't have a training space with trees on it

In reference to some of the attitudes posted here towards the residents that show valid concern and interest in their local area and park.

are they valid though? Your anti SA AFL teams is understandable when there's something impacting the local comp, but this is a bit out there. If the vast majority of residents don't care or are pro the development, why should anyone care about the vocal minority.

If you knew anything about the area you’d realise the trees mentioned are on the western side of Kings Reserve

Not all the people who attended were local residents,
The same as there a few who are complaining about the issue who are not residents.
In fact, more residents are in favour of the plans,

I unreservedly apologise to the residents who will be put out by this project and have their lives impacted negatively.

Both of them.

Why mention the Darlington overpass and not mention the roadworks at Ashwin Parade ?

The residents will be impacted more by the roadworks than anything the Crows do
