Logo looks shit, it's a downgrade from literally any logo we've ever used.

It's Port Adelaide (an upgrade on POWER)
It contains 1870
It contains black and white stripes (not 150 years old btw)

I don't think it's perfect but some of the reactions are otp.

Because we had the best jumper in Australian Football, maybe even world sport - and we were forced to give it up by pants wetters in Melbourne.

The replacement jumper when we went into the AFL was very poor. New age shit not a footy jumper.

We went with a mickey mouse new age colour teal and its 66 shades rather than a simple dark blue or light blue.

Because we were artificially split - and we had to waste time with who is the real Port Adelaide shit - then had a re-unification, but even the re-unification had to be a merger first before a proper reunification and it came with conditions limiting our participation at the B grade level.

No other sporting club entering the no. 1 or 2 national league in its country, in the top 30 or 40 developed countries the world, has had to go thru the bullshit like we have had to, just to play a game of sport.

That's why we agonize over this stuff like no other supporter base.

Well aware of the reasons REH, I just don't see the point of having a fortnightly discussion over nicknames and colours when we're twenty years into this AFL journey now.

Teal is part of us and will be into the future. Use it correctly and it's fine. The nickname isn't perfect but it's not even in this new logo, so it remains to be seen how it's used. The Power chant at games isn't bad at all. I'm one of the people that has no emotional attachment to the magpie as a mascot, and most people 30 and younger would be the same.

Let's bring back the bars, sure, but the other stuff is fine as is and part or our identity now.

You can't piss the teal off its part of us and what we won a AFL flag in..Or maybe it's because I'm 31 and growing up in Melbourne loving the teal colour and "power" nickname in the 90s is what appealed to me at the time. Time to move on.

If we cared about "tradition" we'd simply revert to one of our oldest logos for the heritage factor and maybe build around that to incorporate the magpies which should have realistically been a part of Port Adelaide forever due to being the longest used symbol in one way or another.

All SANFL home games come free with any basic AFL membership now, you can pay the $50 to get all home and away games for the SANFL, I doubt that includes grandstand access though, just general entry.

But the Magpie on the logo isn't going to work, same goes with a thunderbolt or IMO teal.

I can live without the Magpie and the Power monicker

I can live without teal. I can live with a bit of it, but I don't want it to be made the primary colour, but its a stupid colour that leaves it open to plenty of Chinese manufacturing green teal vs blue teal versions.

Bigfooty has a graphics design board so you are always going to get budding graphic designers come and try and design new jumpers and logos for the club. There is a 172 bloody pages of threads with redesigning every clubs' jumpers and logos, so its just not a Port thing but our situation means more people seem to want to "help" come up with an answer. Go spend an hour or two looking at this board at it might be an eye opener to you.

The Logo gets maximum attention the last few weeks in the build up to its release and then once its been released for the next 6 months until the footy starts. Then it will back off completely.

Getting the Wharf pylons design onto the national stage is a lot bigger issue. It goes to the core of our club and the AFL as custodians of the game and not being pants wetters. Its about $$$ as well as history, tradition and emotional attachment. The AFL control us because of $$$. Getting our jumper back helps us earn more $$$ and getting away from the clutches of the AFL. That discussion will not die until a wrong has been righted.
