Very interesting few months ahead for the club- with Scott’s imminent departure, will the club be brave and appoint a young up and coming coach with new ideas? or play the safe option as we so often have, and go with an experienced proven coach who’s been at the top level before? Either way, it’s a severely integral decision for the future of the club.

Personally, I’d go and target Sam Mitchell, and if he declines and wants to take over from Clarko at Hawthorn, then why not approach the legend himself? Maybe he would want a new challenge too and hand the reigns to Mitchell. Approaching both of them should be the starting point

I’d go with Longmire so he brings Blakey. And his young punk son can realise what a w*nk he is... until he suggests a trade in 3 years and we love him

Yeah, Pagan, Laidley and Scott were all safe options with proven but unspectacular senior coaching records when we hired them. Club definitely has form on that front.

Wouldn't mind Blakey tbh.

Sam Mitchell I think could become something. But who knows?

But not sold on anyone yet. Ideally I'd like a North person, but not at the expense of getting some really good or settling just because he's North,.

None of Schimma, Pagan, Laidley or Braddles were experienced or proven at the top level.

Hird

Mitchell with hodge as assistant

Wouldn't touch Hird with a 10ft bargepole. No matter what you think of his footy brain he has the ethics of a US arms dealer on holiday in the middle east.

Mitchell I could see, can't see Hodge happening.

Can the unproven coaches actually coach? Have the cast offs improved?

Clarkson would be the dream. Would be interesting to see if we approached Mitchell, would Hawthorn invoke a “succession plan” ala Collingwood and Sydney when we were sniffing around Buckley and Longmire. How would Clarkson cop that?

A coach who wants early draft picks, a game plan/style that is ours & the players know how to implement and someone that can get the team to use the football efficiently.

Nearly 15 years ago people had no idea who Alastair Clarkson was.
