Footy clubs aren't just that though, they're community leaders.
People want their teams to be something more than that, that's just how people are today. Otherwise the GWS dress up thing wouldn't have blown up like it did.
I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong, it's just the way it is.
When ROB won the Jim Stynes medal for his community work, there was universal celebration.
But when the club celebrates some of it’s community work through their indigenous programs, its ’virtue signalling’ and ‘the club should stick to football’.
Given ROB was dropped for a period last season, should we be admonishing him for his community work and telling him to stick to football?
