Unfortunately I highly doubt changing the day will have much effect on those people that have a problem celebrating all the great things Australia has achieved on all levels icluding inclusivity, they'll still carry on with their well worn agendas.
I think you are completely wrong.

As will all the right wing identity warriors.

Extremists on both sides will stay extreme.

But it would be good to find something for the majority of Australians that understand why indigenous people have difficulty with the date, but also want to celebrate what is a fantastic country.
Nope, every poll taken in more recent times the majority of Australians are quite happy to leave as is. Maybe Albo if he gets back in will have another crack but I suspect the result will be similar to his "Voice" referendum.

This i tend to agree with.

Life for those who feel like they've been wronged for 240 years won't suddenly change with a change in date of our National Day.

You say that but the majority of people want Australia Day on Australia Day and I don’t think it’s even close?
Actually, it's a minority of Australians that want to keep it on January 26 - Forty-eight per cent.

But that's a bit misleading, because many don't have an opinion and under 30% definitely want it moved.

Older Australians are easily the biggest group to want the date to stay.

Feel free to share every poll taken in recent times. That would be great.

I don't.

What changes ?? Poverty will still be there, the alcoholism, the domestic violence etc will all still be there.

240 years of history doesn't evaporate
But what if....hear me out....Most Aboriginal people want to change the date.....? Just maybe making the change might help, even if just a little...

Why should we ignore the minority of Aboriginals that want it to stay?

I can only go by my experiences. Almost all Aboriginal people want the date moved so they can actually celebrate Australia day.
I've had the opposite experience

Most don't actually care, probably a small cross section of the feeling around the entire country.

Do they, not according to the Guardian who polled in 2017, personally the Polls seems to have moved the other way since?

Unless you consider 54% an overwhelming majority.

Asked about whether the date of Australia Day should change, 54% of Indigenous Australians polled were in favour of a change compared with a total of 15% of total Australians polled.

Can I ask why you don't want the date to change?
Because it wouldn’t be Australia Day for me.
I’ve grow up with it as that.
Just wouldn’t be the same, if people want or don’t want to celebrate it on the 26th that’s up to them to do whatever they want.
I wouldn’t dream of telling them to, just as I’d hope others wouldn’t tell me when I should or should not celebrate something.
I absolutely can’t stand people pushing views on others whether it be religious or otherwise.
