We've officially dodged a massive bullet with Taryn Thomas. He's well and truly off the rails and not looking to get back on.
Might have been an altogether different outcome if he'd gone to a club that had decent culture and nipped it in the bud early on.
There were certainly no indication at draft time that he had off field issues. Not as many "distractions" in Tassie or SA as Melbourne either.

Am I wrong in thinking that Gather Round will be a tremendous success, and thus instantly moved to Melbourne (including no doubt a "one-off" Derby, Showdown, Q-Clash, Battle of the Bridge....you know, at the "home" of football....)
It seems likely. AFL (read Victorian) media already complaining about Pies vs Saints. Heaven forbid a good match up be included in Gather Round.

SA aren’t granted many wins. They’ll want some payback next year for this week.

This is getting ridiculous now. These SM platforms need to take a stance.

These people are clearly dheads but I wonder if there is a degree of politics at play with the “Voice to Parliament” debate are the moment. Seems like a flurry of these incidents occurring

But you have hit the nail on the head. If the various platforms put more effort into ensuring any account set up has something to tie you to it - then it will go a long way to preventing the issue

I would have thought that if the offence is classified correctly in the first place, then that determines the penalty. The MRO can't just classify it upwards (to the tribunal) because they think the penalty should be higher. That's supposed to be the point of the classification system.

If the MRO is sending players to the tribunal because they "think" the penalty should be higher, they're just asking for an appeal.
Happens all the time mate that the MRO refers directly to the tribunal

Anyone lucky enough to get tickets for the Front Bar tonight? Or heading along to the MMM Rush Hour live broadcast at the casino tomorrow?

All this anger and vitriol about the posts the AFL players have copped.

This is just a slice of life for most people.

Go listen to the voice chat on any online team game… it’s way way worse.

Go read the stuff that gets posted around the world on social media … it’s a garbage truck of crap.

Trolls are everywhere.

You cannot stop it if you allow the general public to post freely.

Why would any public figure want to hear from the great unwashed - unfiltered?

It’s the same for women, for gender-diverse, for homosexuals … The worst of the worst seek them out and have their “fun”.

Even good ol LinkedIn gets this stuff.

Try to censor it? Good luck.

The only way to be free of it, is not being on it … or at the very least loving it down and restricting your interactions to those you know.

I’m not saying it shouldn’t be called out - but this shock and amazement is bit naïve.

Yes, they do - according to the guidelines on page 6 of this document:

Whether the MRO refers to the tribunal depends on the MRO's grading of the offence; not whether the MRO thinks the penalty is insufficient.

For example, if the MRO classifies an offence as Intentional / High / to the body, then that's 2 matches. The MRO can't decide that "2 matches isn't sufficient, so I'll refer it to the tribunal".

It is school holidays. Teenage boys with no brains thinking they are funny.

Really think that is a poor bow to draw to link it back to the voice campaign

Like the person who blamed the AFL and AFC for not going harder at Tex

You missed this part.

For more serious Classifiable Offences, offences which do not fit the Classification Table, Classifiable Offences committed by a Player that has a bad record (particularly for similar previous offences) or in the absolute discretion of the MRO, the Player will be referred by the MRO to the Tribunal (which will determine an appropriate sanction at its discretion)

The negativity in the media forced change at our club.

Won't happen with Port. As long as Cos Cardone is on their Board.

It's actually pretty ironic that Rucci has helped create the same mentality down at Alberton that he used to constantly criticise the Crows for having.

The club is now surrounded by a bunch of media spruikers who all just sprout the same club driven narratives while shunning those who dare to criticise the club.

They're now a club that reeks of self entitlement that has lost sight of what's important. Forget about existing to win premierships, it's now all about what guernseys they wear and making sure that they're not being called "Port Power" and obsessing over gimmicks like "Never Tear As Apart".

Just ask Tredders what happens when you start asking about where the premierships are. As he has discovered ,unless you're a blind sycophant and who is running with the "Port is awesome" narrative then you're not welcome down at Alberton.
