Spot onHe did, he saw the ball in Rowell's hands and then launched himself into his face.
I saw some of the ridiculous claims by WC supporters that Rioli was the only player who touched the ball. FFS they are a deluded bunch.
Rowell pretty much completes the mark before Rioli even leaves the ground. I think if a player chooses to leave the ground and hits someone head high then the AFL needs to do everything possible to discourage that. Fines or one week suspensions are not enough for something that can easily cause a serious concussion. CTE is a billion dollar law suit waiting to happen in any contact sport.

We politely "ask for clarification on a few calls".
I’ve only rewatched the first half and it wasn’t as bad as I thoughtShould be more than that this week. It was borderline at the point where we should be asking the AFL to sack the umpires involved tbh.
Changing the NGA rules had a lot more to do with the freebie that the Bulldogs got than anything about usIt's the same vibe but the exact opposite side of the coin.
The AFL knows our metro indigenous talent, including my son, are elite. If Freo has access to players that good it will be unfair to the other clubs because Freo would be too good.
Gold Coast is rubbish and needs to get good fast, so they pour the academy in, giving them access to players with zero cost because the AFL isn't scared of a successful Gold Coast, that makes them money.
The AFL arguably makes less money if Freo wins a grand final than a Melbourne based side.

This is pretty cool. Weird that we've spent more weeks on top of the ladder this century than 3-peat Richmond.
I assumed it was bad, but I didn't realise it was that blatant. Do the GC still get Darwin as a 'free' recruitment zone? It's the same vibe but the exact opposite side of the coin.

Yes. It’s a jokeI assumed it was bad, but I didn't realise it was that blatant. Do the GC still get Darwin as a 'free' recruitment zone?
Bad call. He's lucky he copped just one week.

I doubt they would take that riskDo we know if the challenge can result in it being upgraded to 2 weeks pending it failing? Hoping so, good player and it’ll help us come round 3

I can’t see that happening after coming off a two year banThe AFL is able to appeal if they feel the penalty is grossly inadequate.
I got laughed at by a few coasters for even suggesting it was minimum a free kick but should've been 50. I said he should get 2 weeks minimum as he left the ground, got him high, never touched the ball and never had eyes for the ball. The general consensus was that I was a "Typical Freo supporters that never know the rules"
Walked over yesterday with a smug look " Oh hey Guys, Rioli got suspended"
Their faces all dropped simultaneously and they all went " oh what for" " Rowell ducked into it" " ohh he only had eyes for the ball"
I left them to discuss the unfairness of the decision chuckling to myself.
I genuinely don't get how it's even a controversial decision, although the WCE echo chamber that is West Australian media might have something to do with it.
He's fortunate to get a week. Left the ground, turned his body and made contact with the head. Debatable whether he was ever really intending to impact the contest in any other way aside from flattening Rowell.
The AFL can't say they're taking concussion seriously and then dish out a slap on the wrist just because he didn't actually concuss him.
