7 of Carlton's top 11 possession winners last night were recruited from other clubs. The other 4 were picks 1, 10, 13, and 27. 12 of their total 23 were from other clubs, plus Cerra, Martin, Newnes, Marchbank, and Young who didn't play last night.

I've certainly developed soft spots for clubs who have gone extra long periods of time without success...Bulldogs, Melbourne, heck even St Kilda come to mind, but **** Carlton.

They have that pervading stench of the VFL old boys club and that, combined with their general arrogance and propensity to buy anything and everything they like, really shits me.

If they have a great year, I'll have a bad one...and vice versa.

Lol, someone is using big words like invidious without understanding what they mean

It's only used exactly backwards. That is the right part of the sentence for that word. I don't think our vulnerable position is making anyone resentful or angry compared to other teams, we are within the walls.

Brodie has never tagged in his life and you think he would be a good matchup for Cripps? He would be gassed after the first quarter.
Genuinely interested in how you stop Cripps then with no Fyfe ?

( Did I ask this question already ? This Covid is seriously messing with my head )

You can’t. Have you watched him recently? You can’t stop him, you can try and stop him getting goal side clearances but he can’t be stopped right now.
Don’t agree
You put someone on him that has the body and is purely there to halve his contest and you have a chance

Dogs were just letting him walk it out of there last night

Brodie or Logue could do it

We are in agreement. You can body him up so he can’t run goal side from the clearance but he can’t be stopped using a pure tag so it would be silly to try. Especially two guys who have never done the job in their life.

Carlton's main strength was going hard at the contest and winning the contested ball. Dogs were always second to it. If you halve the contest and turn it into a scrap they lose that advantage.

Which means you shouldn't be trying to tag. Personally I think the game has gone well past the hard midfield tag, as you said, win the hardball yourself and back your mids in.

Cripps was amazing when they won the ball (close to unstoppable) but on the flip side he did close to nothing defensively. Was involved in most chains that led to scores for the Blues. But his lack of accountability was often the main reason the Dogs got back in the game.

Our defensive side is average. Lucky that is a strength for Ras and Johno.

Logue would be awesome at it
I’d love to see it but it’s a bit too far outside the square me thinks .
I’m not sure how any can categorically say Brodie “can’t “ do it , he’s the big bodied mid dog that’s really his job .
