Some talk that Hawthorn have resigned Rioli for too long (till 2020). Personally I don't think thats too long at all. Only 27 and he will see out his career at Hawthorn. Would be great in our forward line.
In anyone's forward line I think. I thought he was older, but you're right. I remèmber seeing him play first in the pre season games, 2007 I'm pretty sure, and you could tell he was special then.

Can any of you guys give me a little more insight into how good a ruckman John Giles is? he played quite a few games for your mob.

He looked serviceable in his few games for us this season.

You hit the nail on the head - serviceable.

Nice bloke. Won't let you down. Won't ever be a star. Will always be well liked and remembered fondly by Giants supporters.

As above - serviceable. That one game that he played out of his skin for WCE was a standout, but I wouldn't expect he would do that regularly. Always liked Gilesy. Nice guy when he came to visit my son's junior AFL club, but just not quite the skill or the mongrel to be a standout first grader and doubtful that he can develop it. But is handy enough in the forward line - can both take a grab and kick straight for goal. Tap work just isn't a strength, nor does he use his body in ruck contests the best, but he'll always try his hardest for the whole game.

It was how insiders believe the the Blues are very similar in where they are to the Giants of 3 years ago.

They are spot on except for a few details:-

1.Calton is a very traditional and a very successful club that's having a "down" time. We're a new club trying to sink deep roots into the community and build a rusted on heart of supporters.

2. They seem to have made a few errors in planning their climb back up. Ours seems to have gone to plan so far.

3. We have benefited and made full use of our draft con9cessions. They've arguably been slowed as GC and us took the talent from the draft in recent years. That's done now though.

I have no history with Carlton other than watching some very good sides from their club in my lifetime. I like the majority of their supporters on BF though. They seem to have the ability to laugh at themselves and self deprecating humour is a sign of character in my view.

Geelong are playing with sleeves during the preseason.

That looks like something you'd see on Sesame Street.

Today's football match is sponsored by the letter 'G'.

That top doesn't look right. Why are they going to sleeves? Did the AFL ask them to trial it?

Hawthorn wore a sleeved shirt pre-season some years ago...

Didn't take off then - doubt this one will either.

Still.... it was better than this abomination that confronted me at my first ever live game back in the early 90s...

Hawthorn do have a history of shocking jumpers (and in other breaking news, water is wet)

That Power Ranger guernsey they wore looked horrible! You'd think with such awful colours, Hawthorn could only improve with any change. The fact that they always seem to look worse whenever they change something says a lot!
