Watched Redden last night for East Perth - was pretty sad really. He didn't standout even in a WAFL game, really difficult to see him playing much in the Eagles team this year. Look lost and devoid of confidence.

Tbh man in the bulk of old games I've been watching lately, Redden never really stood out. I think we overrated him back in the day. He was a player who never became the player his potential suggested.

Interestingly, i believe there was a bit of angst at the time that we went or Redden and not the more fancied Robinson.

Things have a way of correcting themselves sometimes.

For sure. I'm very happy we have Robbo over Reddo nowa days, but I suppose that's a given for every Lions supporter.

IIRC there was a fair bit of love for a certain Dayne Beams, whom we overlooked for Redden.

Things do have a way of correcting themselves. I wonder if Dayne would be the same otballer if we had developed him.

Talking of Redden i will never forget a few seasons ago the Lions were playing at Etihad. It was 2015 actually as i fondly remember Dayne Beams was playing for the Lions and it was my first time seeing him in our colours. The players were going through the pre match drills. I remember watching closely one of the drills where assistant coaches roll the ball to the in coming player who is suppose to pick up cleanly and drill and hand ball back. Each player would have done this say 6-7 times in a 2 minute period. Redden and D. Beams were in the same group. Beams never fumbled once and was so clean with his hands i remember thinking to myself this guy is going to be a great signing for our club. Redden who i had always regarded as a solid player who was underrated - must have fumbled 3-4 times doing the same drill.

Just a simple drill but i have never forgotten it and the impression it left me. If anything to me it demonstrated that Beams was the ultimate professional he was switched on and ready to go and Redden like many other Lion players had got into bad habits and wasn't switched on.

Looking forward to the first bounce of 2017 tonight! Can't stand either side but am hoping Carlton win simply due to the fact that the meltdown on the Richmond board would be amazing.
I dont really care who wins, but i am definately looking forward to it.
Feels like it has been forever.

Chris Mayne earning 500k per year with the Pies has been named an emergency for their Round 1 clash against the Dogs:p

I hope Jesse White is earning as much. At least he can get a game for them.

The first game of the year is always really exciting...until about halfway through the second quarter when you well and truly realise Richmond and Carlton are still both pretty crap.
