My proposal for North Melbourne is quite controversial but hear me out:

Before I posted on BigFooty, I used to like North Melbourne. I think that probably rings true for a lot of people. Therefore, I believe all North fans should stop posting on the internet, eventually people will start to like them and the same people will stop asking them to move to a remote island.

Failing that, they could probably work on just being better people.

You realise the AFL are wanting to move North to Tassie, the reason you got a womens team is your Tassie (not tassie map) connection, they are just waiting for your resolve to falter and you will be the next Swans.

Hope you can hang in there and beat the AFL at its own game.

of course i realise that's why we were granted the women's license - but with the $7b redevelopment plan of arden st north won't be moving.

there won't be a large enough market in tassie for a sole team ever, or at least for a very long time. In the meantime i'm happy for north to cash in on it while the other small vic teams struggle to survive.

You could always get out more or put snake on block. But yes, quite a funny and accurate observation.

Melbourne fans seem to have handled it better though.

In future, a like will suffice.

Thanks for the feedback.

I always find it funny when people who support made up franchises love sticking the boot in to small Melbourne clubs.

It's a hangover from the days when the VFL clubs used to raid their competitions for the cream players.

You could utilise some way out mathematical formula to support the relocation of Collingwood and these types would agree with it.

Isn’t there also some sort of alignment with their new VFL team aswell. Was under the impression Tassie academy players will fill the North VFL side

I always find it funny when vicco supporters can't see that 10 teams isn't sustainable, and it's always the broke ass clubs like yours that can't see it.

In 100 yrs from now what do you want to see? I would like a truly national competition. Not some vfl afl hybrid that we have now.

The game needs to progress not stagnate. Tough calls need to be made. The

I'm not aware of this but it makes perfect sense if we are going to get first crack at them.

I always find it funny when franchise supporters ignore the AFL declaration that "the 10 Victorian teams are the engine room of the AFL."

I may be completely off the mark but just thought I’d seen that somewhere.

I think a few North posters were pushing for Tarryn Thomas to gain VFL inclusion, like Luke McDonald received with Werribee as a 17 year old, but I am not aware that this is a fact.

Suits me fine.

Thanks Caro.

Good luck sustaining a football club amongst a couple of hundred thousand people in a cold and isolated environment.

Worth every breath of your borrowed oxygen.
Are you actually disputing the fact the AFL want nothing more than to transplant North to Tasmania?

I dont like the AFL or the way they run this comp, so hoping you dont let it happen.

I'm disputing that the AFL even have the power to make it happen, much less put it in to action.

The below is a quote from our media manager who posted this on the North board about 3 weeks ago. End of.

Interestingly, the AFL has three categories for clubs based in their level of financial involvement and level of risk/concern, I can tell you, we are not even in the bottom bracket - about 6 clubs are though including at least 3 Vic ones.
We are not a main concern of theirs anymore.
But we have to keep it that way and that’s why we need more revenue and more fans - hence the need for a secondary market in Tas. But it’s not a cash grab either, we are legitimately putting in the hard yards down there and giving back as much as we can. Our NGA registrations were off the charts down there - best in the AFL by a mile.

Geelong has its own team and there is more support in Tassie than on the Gold Coast, your 7 mill upgrade is chump change to the AFL, and the council would retain the facilities anyway.

Again not saying it should happen or that I want it to happen but some very hard work will be needed in membership and finances to take away the AFL's leverage, this is why North cant afford Carlton like rebuilds of multiple years.

I think that's the metro rail tunnel.

This thread's a bit like the mid season threads of Hawk doom and gloom. Every clown is in panic with a moron suggestion for your club. You'll probably find the same people had implosions and reasons why Richmond were to be useless in 2017 and they were all wrong. Also at the end of 2014 how were the Bulldogs perceived?

That said, I think North's Septembers will be quiet for at least 2018.

This just proves the point in a way, you need the Tas market the AFL knows that, I would be more worried than you but thats why we Tigers rattled cans, fought off Alan Bond and raised millions in the Fighting Tiger Fund, no one is moving or disbanding Richmond especially not the AFL, you need to make sure you all buy memberships attend matches, that is more important than position on the ladder although it is generated by position on the ladder.
