Why did the umpire blow the whistle for a 2nd time after he marked it? He was obviously trying to stop the Collingwood players from approaching the North player.

After seeing their explanation I still think it's a 50.

No one should be complaining about Collingwood, this is about the state of the game. Every week it's terrible calls regardless of team. The football public should really be sending the unified message of less frees and let the contest play. The more frees there are the more inconsistency there will be. The reason this non-call is so signfiicant is because it flies in the face of 10 instances in the last few weeks which were way less obvious. If there is a bad isolated free it will have less impact on the game that the compounding issue of 7-8 bad calls a game.

And many teams have lost them because of bad calls. There is probably 500 technical frees a game. It would be entirely unwatchable. The answer isn't to pay 50. It's to have as little influence on the game as possible. Let wrestling happen. Teams will build lists to play in that style. Currently it's all luck and absolutely unmanageable.

According to her explanation the whistle means nothing and you can keep charging until an Umpire either calls out Stand or Play on. Very odd thing to say.

Considering some of the frivolous 50s they have paid this year that one was quite obvious and i doubt even the most ardent Collingwood supporter would've complained. However, the AFL have ticked off on it? No 50 metre penalties should be paid for the rest of the year!

Even as a Collingwood supporter I felt sorry for North...than I remembered the dud calls against Fremantle and ST Kilda.
