This might be polarising. I expect some will not like it given Bazball has become somewhat of a meme for the English Cricket Team. But I’m on the other side of the coin here.
I think it’s a stroke of genius by Clarkson. It was such a simple marketing lever to pull. It’s almost like he said to Wardlaw yesterday “Georgey my boy, you can have this moment mate. Go put it out there.”
We will for sure be made fun of by some, particularly if we don’t improve. That’s why it’s so bold and that’s why Clarkson is such a great coach. He will put his neck on the line for the club.
When you look at it from a glass half full approach, if we do indeed improve, we will be envied by the league for having this trademark.
The media will lap it up for both the right and wrong reasons. It’s up to the players now to ensure they turn it into a positive.
On-field is always important, but just as important is the exposure our club desperately needs as one of the small fish in Melbourne.
