Theres a million reasons he might have taken a PCR test, exposure, mild symptoms, shits and gigs. My point wasnt that he would or wouldnt take a test, my point was that if Novak Djokovic wants a PCR test for whatever reason hes not lining up like one of us regular plebs so thats not a reason why he wouldnt get a test.

If Djokovic wants to the play the French and Wimbledon and the the US tournaments he needs to engage his brain and get vaccinated, but with his holier than thou attitude i don't think he will and he will pay the penalty. He certainly comes over as an entitled price for sure.

Unfortunately there's currently no laws in the UK that force elite sportspeople to be vaccinated. So he would be able to play Wimbledown unvaccinated.


France have recently passed laws that elite sportspeople must be fully vaccinated so that's out of the question.


US Open - not sure what the laws are over there as it varies greatly from state to state.


Many other ATP events will require full vaccination. Maybe he will retire.

I understand the irony is lost on you ... after a Federal Court hearing on the original decision and a Full Court Hearing on the Minister's decision, both whistled up by a non-citizen of Australia in a matter of hours, but hey "no judicial review".

The federal court hearing had nothing to do with the ministers decision.

The immigration minister can essentially block anyone they feel like from entering the country. The only way to get past their decision is by a court finding them in breach of the law.

It is not a good thing. Minister Hawke essentially has God power.

People are asking why he was granted a Visa, and then refused entry. You can obtain a Visa than can last for as long as 5 years if deemed necessary. You do not have to enter the country at the same time you are granted a Visa. Your circumstances may alter from the time you get your Visa to the time you wish to enter the country, that is why they are treated separately.

When coming to Australia, it was under two conditions. Either he provides proof of vaccination, or he must self-isolate for 14 days prior to the event.

Quite clear, I don't know why that would be so difficult to understand. Had he done one or the other, there would have been no problem. However, because he chose to ignore these conditions, he's had his Visa cancelled. Once again, surely not that difficult to understand.

Djokovic and his team have stuffed up. They are the reason he's not playing in the Australian Open and may not be permitted to return to Australia for up to 3 years. A message to all of these people who think they are above the law because they play sport, etc ... you're not. Respect the wishes of that country and you will have no problems in future. The rules are the same for everybody, there are no exceptions.

The quarantine option is extremely limited, pretty much just citizens and their families and a few very limited other circumstances like the government sponsoring you as a pandemic related health worker, in the national interest, compassionate reasons or similar. Djokovic’s special activity visa (408) isn’t one of the ones that allows you to come here and quarantine in lieu of being vaccinated.

Excellent points. There are so many reasons why someone holding a valid visa might be denied entry. They can include:

The person arriving on the flight is not the same person on the visa application
The person has lost their foreign passport/identification
The person lied/misled on their visa application
The applicant plans to work, when the visa they have applied for does not have work rights
The applicant has an undeclared criminal record
The applicant has committed an offence on board the aircraft (smoking, slapping a hostie's butt)
The person appears intoxicated or their behavior is considered undesirable

So many reasons why a visa being granted before departure does not confer a right to entry.

Craig Tiley really does have a lot to answer for, at the end of the day he found a loophole for Novak to expose when he knew that unvaccinated players were not welcome.
