A squad of 25 of Australia’s best young indigenous players was announced on Thursday, set to journey to South Africa for a learning and development tour starting later this month.

The squad, accompanied by former AFL stars Derek Kickett, Gavin Wanganeen and Jason McCartney will play three matches against the South African Buffaloes, highlighted by a curtain-raiser for the February 2 clash between the visiting Fremantle and Carlton sides.

The squad is:

WA: Alliston Pickett, Johnson Taylor, Hayden Collard
NSW: Djali Bloomfield, Thomas Kickett, Anthony Taylor
NT: Steven May, Ashley Lansen, Curtly Hampton, Anthony Hale, Stanley Turner Qld: Thomas Holland, Anzack Newman, Kieran Johnson, Peter Yagmoor, Rex Liddy
Vic: Tyrone Bean, Brandon Edwards, Richard Bamblett, Dylan Somerville
SA: Joshua Wittwer, Timothy Milera, Nathan Ahmat-Watkins, Jarrad Brusnahad
Tas: Daniel Cox

Steven May is one of the best talents coming out of the Territory in a few years. He is only 15 and debuted playing A Grade up here and snagged a few goals. He torches everyone in under 16's, and carves it up when he plays in the 18's. If he keeps improving he will be a good talent.

Note he is at school in Melb this year along with a couple of others in this squad.
