In bad news:

Bit of hyperbole saying Woods is one of the best prospects in AFL, definitely up there for league however.

As an aside, shows the uneven playing field swans have attracting junior talent in NSW with the League clubs able to offer big contracts to juniors.

Hits harder for those players at KPPs size who get sbapped up by league far quicker.

Now the decision is made, the 2024 draft focus now on Harrison, Cochran, and possibly Este.

That sucks a lot. I feel like the NRL clubs are now watching our academy too, and they are able to pay their players before we can giving them a massive advantage.
Can you imagine if they extended the floated idea of salary cap exemptions for poaching rugby union players to all sports?

I was wondering where the academy hit-pieces were :)

And coming from the Magpies, amongst others, who got Daicos and Moore at a steal, and another Daicos and Quaynor somewhat on the cheap. And previously made grand finals and won flags with various Clokes and Shaws.

And the Cats a complete steal with Hawkins. Not to mention a freebie top ten pick last year as a direct result of the predatory behaviour of clubs from the southern states and the effect it has on the Suns’, in particular, salary cap.

Maybe the 14 NGA clubs should ask the AFL if they can look to roll back some of the cuts they made to the NGA draft bidding system during COVID? eg. start by going back to the 2021 rule of bids in the 20-40 being the same as the usual Academy bidding rules.

Our contention is they shouldn't even have the NGA Academies, the players get into the system anyway via normal schools and local comps.

Some of the NGAs are a joke.

Norf only just recently got theirs going again...had been MIA since Covid.

Even the AFL must have laughed when Norf wanted Sanders pre listed. Prolly attended a pie and pizza night once.

Others treat it very seriously. The Cats did a lot of work early with UgleHagan and were very cranky the Dogs who were slack picked him up.

Mitchell Woods was playing in the Bulldogs junior system whilst he was also in the academy.

They aren't looking at the academy and randomly signing players.

Funny that the Vic clubs use media platforms to voice their discontent with any advantages the northern clubs get (like clockwork at every opportunity). Yet you don't hear anything from our clubs when established clubs like Collingwood get another gun father son selection on the cheap.

We need to start throwing barbs every time there's a fixture announcement and Vic clubs don't leave Victoria for months on end.

And there should be an annual uproar every time the grand final is played, complaining about the significant home-ground advantage Victorian clubs have when playing for the flag.

Should we keep a running tally of the win % of Vic clubs vs interstate clubs in GFs? And post a bunch of outraged tweets?

Is that how this game works?
