Team with least VFL/AFL flags (I’m excusing freo, suns and giants) throws tanty about draft concessions since they’ve failed to capitalize on anything in their embarrassing history as a club.

Echo North Melbourne one of the strongest teams in the mid to late 90's won mulitple flags had basically full monopoly on Friday night football a mere 20yrs later reduced to irrelevancy.

Despise the tainted club.

St Kilda is renowned for its appalling culture, schoolgirls, dwarf burning, drug culture and enterprise. It is always begging for something, be it picks or money.

The Tainted exist to make Norf slightly credible.
 
Here are some notes on the Academy players from last weekend's CL game

#7 Lachlan Cabor
Small Forward | 178cm | 28/09/2005

Stats: 16 disposals, 4 tackles, 3 inside 50s

Returning as an over-ager for the Swans, Cabor was utilised in the small forward role. His explosive streak and physicality made him dangerous, though he sometimes ran himself into trouble when carrying the ball. He could hardly be faulted on the defensive end with strong tackling pressure, making for useful grunt work going both ways.


#29 Ned Hawkins
Midfielder | 187cm | 09/07/2005

Stats: 19 disposals, 6 marks, 6 inside 50s

Hawkins had little trouble getting his hands on the ball, finishing level as the Swans’ top disposal winner. The over-ager was thrown into the midfield mix having mostly cut his teeth as a wingman last year, and his size was a factor on the inside. There, he bustled through the front of stoppages and used his booming boot to gain quick metres, although a touch of polish could have made him more effective. Hawkins’ final quarter goal was more measured and gave the Swans a sniff.


#28 Joel Cochran
Tall Defender | 195cm | 28/03/2006

Stats: 18 disposals, 4 marks, 6 rebound 50s

Fresh off representing the National Academy, Cochran was posted in the Swans’ defence and showed his versatility as a tall prospect. He moves quite well for a 195cm player and was not afraid to carry the ball out of defence or provide overlap run. His kicking at full flight was hit or miss, but he was generally tidy otherwise and looked potent when playing a high line behind the ball.


#10 Lachlan Carmichael
Midfielder | 183cm | 27/08/2007

Stats: 16 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles

The Swans’ Under 16 MVP last year, Carmichael looks to have been converted from defender to full-time midfielder. He displayed terrific composure in traffic, drawing opponents with feints before disposing of the ball, or stepping to the outside himself. He also showed a great knack for keeping his arms free at the contest and was quite polished in the way of handling. Carmichael began to get busier on the outside as the game wore on, though was most effective at stoppages.


#30 Noah Chamberlain
Tall Forward | 192cm | 21/03/2007

Stats: 14 disposals, 3 tackles, 1 goal

There’s plenty to like about Chamberlain as a tall forward. He’s strong enough to provide a marking target on the lead with clean hands and a fluent leap, but also athletic enough to impact once the ball hits the deck. He booted the first goal of the game with a quick snap around the body and looked quite nimble for his size. The bottom-ager’s intensity and movement gave him real presence despite being shut down aerially after half time.

Cochran will go top 30 this year and if he performs strongly during the carnival could go first round. Great athlete, reads the ball well, good height.

Have only heard good things about Carmichael and his apparently shaping very nicely for his draft and we would have a close eye on Chamberlain, if he can grow another cm or two look out.

Think we are shaping well.

In fact both Carmichael and Chamberlain were rated top 5 at the under 16's championships last year.

This means we should have Cochran drafted this year and Carmichael/ Chamberlain the year after.

Probably going to be the first example for the new AFL bidding rules, will be interesting.

Probably way too early to think about, but it will be very interesting to see who Cochran (and Snell from last year) will replace in defence.

Same with Harrison in the mids if he's drafted this year as well...

If Horse is true to form he will give them time to develop but with Rampe, Fox and Lloyd at the back end there will be room for them and Edwards.
It will be interesting to see if Roberts stays in defence or reverts to the mids. With he, Sheldrick and Cleary any new mid is likely to need to wait.

Unfortunately it would not surprise me if McCartin does not have a long career as he too seems to have concussion issues like his brother.
 
RMC PREVIEW

ONES TO WATCH​

Sydney will be buoyed by a few handy inclusions, perhaps none more so than that of captain Joe Harrison in midfield. His selection means bottom-ager Lachlan Carmichael will likely shift back to defence, while Max Rider and Noah Chamberlain could swap between the wing and forward line.

KEY MATCHUPS​


Lachy Dovaston vs. Lachlan Cabor

Small defender against small forward. Dovaston is a bottom-ager with class and running power, while Cabor is an over-ager whose power and tackling pressure suit his role. Should this matchup go ahead, watch for Cabor to try and shut down Dovaston’s ability to distribute the ball.


Cody Anderson vs. Joe Harrison

Arguably the best midfielder from either side. Anderson is a raging bull who thrives on the contest, while Harrison is a hard runner who can accumulate and go forward. They may not necessarily mark each other at each stoppage, but will contribute to either sides’ success in a major way.


Seth Macdonald vs. Noah Chamberlain

If the team sheets are anything to go by, we’re in for a battle between two tall wingmen. Macdonald is accustomed to playing there and has great upside, while Chamberlain is usually a dynamic marking target up forward. Both cover the ground well at over 190cm, keep your eyes peeled.


Jak Ryan vs. Nicholas Andreacchio

Another matchup between a small forward and defender. Ryan’s energy has served Eastern well when pushing up the ground, while Andreacchio also brings the attack off half-back. Both have eye-catching speed and will take the game on – hopefully they take each other on, too.


PREDICTION​

Eastern is a well coached side which plays as a team, but will be without some serious star power this week. Sydney put in a good account of itself in Round 4 and despite losing, will only be better for it on the back of some strong inclusions. Perhaps an upset here, Swans by 7.
