Yes I see it too. And he'd kill it if defences were still like they were in Lloyd's 100 goals a year days - a wide open fat side to lead into.Don’t flame me, but can anyone see some Lloyd in him? Lloyd much stronger at his peak, but Henry has a tonne of development left in him. Henry loves a pack mark coming from the side, whereas Lloyd went in straight lines generally, but despite this I see some similarities.
Obviously he has a long way to go, but give this kid 2 years and then let’s revisit this post.

Such a shame Kruegs crashed out.
I think by this time of the season they quite often look at a players "body of work", rather than just who performed best in a game that round (though Joel Jeffrey got the nod a couple of weeks back after one big game), whereas earlier in the year that is not as likely to be the case. Logan McDonald's game was clearly superior to Henry's, and he had another good game recently, but I'm hoping that Henry playing three games in a row where he's kicked crucial goals that have helped us win (twice against top sides) will tip things in his favour!Yep, I meant Logan. I thought they nominated based on individual games? And I thought his game probably pipped Ollie, who I thought was having a dirty one until those clunks in the last. But yes if they're looking at the body of work it should be Ollie.
I don't deal in fantasies PN - I deal in what can be accomplished with the resources we have.McStay
Clear? As in clearly off your ****?You are STILL missing my point.
I am NOT talking about the award.
I am talking about who is the best rising star level player in every game in every round.
The rules which are quite clear indicate that it is a participation award BECAUSE players cannot be multi nominated.
It's blindingly simple really - because of the nomination rules - it's quite likely that many nominees have not been the best players in their match.
Can I be any more clear?
Even if people don't agree with the Lloyd comparison I don't think too many folks anywhere would be likely to "flame" you for that. Everybody should be able to see young Ollie has tremendous ability, and the potential to go on and be an outstanding player.
I suppose I'm just a bit shocked that you'd never realised that the standout kids aren't nominated every second week, like they would be in your preferred system. You are STILL missing my point.

A statement on my knowledge regarding nominations STILL doesn't change the facts.I suppose I'm just a bit shocked that you'd never realised that the standout kids aren't nominated every second week, like they would be in your preferred system.
As Daics 35 said - there's a couple of hundred nominated players around - and many nominees have short AFL careers - it's not a big deal - it's just some nice recognition.A statement on my knowledge regarding nominations STILL doesn't change the facts.
Obviously there is a strong probability that a number of rising star nominees haven't been the best in their match over the years.
Not making it a big deal, just making my point which you are taking great pains to avoid acknowledging. As Daics 35 said - there's a couple of hundred nominated players around - and many nominees have short AFL careers - it's not a big deal - it's just some nice recognition.
Agreed. Macdonald was impressive. Henry played one good quarter. Both players were important in influencing close contests. Henry's time will come.I think Macdonald will get it. He was good. Ollie will get it soon.
They don't appear to just select the nominee based on who performed best that week, however. Probably they do that a fair bit earlier in the season, but I'd say it's likely that their "body of work" comes into it more by this time of the year. McDonald indeed had a better game this week than our chap, but having three games in a row where he's played an important part in us winning ought to be good enough for Henry to get up!Agreed. Nevertheless it's still and always will be relegated to a participation event in my books now - like kids who finish last in a school carnival race getting a participation ribbon.

I think so too Jen He's this young kid who looks like he's not up to the pace of the game half the time, yet is still pulling off much winning spurts of excellence.future star.
Once he puts on more weight and tears through the oppositions, give him 2 more seasons and he's gonna be a wrecking ball. A nightmare. Then fact he is showing these star qualities with under 20 games for a young forward; bright future ahead.
Yeah, its moments you are looking for with kids. Wont dominate games (unless you are Nick daicos lol) yet, especially as a forward which is probably one of the toughest spots to play. So match winning moments is enough until he gets a couple more pre-seasons in him.I think so too Jen He's this young kid who looks like he's not up to the pace of the game half the time, yet is still pulling off much winning spurts of excellence.
That's the third time that Henry brilliance has played a big part in getting across the line in close last quarters - that freak goal against St Kilda, then Carlton and today. He's getting in the zone when it really matters.Yeah, its moments you are looking for with kids. I noticed for a good amount of the first half, hawks paid him a lot of attention and clearly there was a focus to take away his strength. His ariael ability. Usually he was 2-1 or 3-1 at times.
And the kind of things he didn't have last year. Improving on sight. That's the third time that Henry brilliance has played a big part in getting across the line in close last quarters - that freak goal against St Kilda, then Carlton and today. He's getting in the zone when it really matters.
The player. I recall an interview Ginni did after he got his Nom, he said he was giving his money to his local junior footy club as it was a small town.does the club or the kid get some money if they are nominated? Reminds me of a gold star at school thing. He did ok in the last quarter though.
