I think I read it correctly in the Border Mail that a number of clubs from different leagues are being investigated for salary cap breaches after last season.
Towards the end of the story it mentioned something about AFL Barwon dishing $500 suspended fines for clubs failing to do something. Gee I reckon some of the O&M clubs would be shaking in their boots at the prospect of $500 fines!!

Let’s be honest if they want to make this work, they need to come up with some serious punishments or else cashed up clubs will willingly break the rules and simply cough up a few dollars to make it all better.

You might want to reread the article, the $500 fines were for failures to lodge salary cap paperwork to the leagues in time or for other small indiscretions. They haven’t caught any club cheating the cap yet.

It's all scheduled investigations at this stage. It's the end of the first year under the cap. This is just to see how compliant clubs were this year. It's purely educational from a governing perspective until such a time a breach is found. Then it goes to a disciplinary committee to establish penalty to punish the club.

That sounds like a formal statement.....

North Albury announce Isaac Muller as playing assistant coach for next year. Out of the teams that were in the bottom 5 they seem to be the most pro active this off season in trying to climb the ladder.

Have to tip your hat to them for having a go. Some very handy ex locals comming back in, so they are mostly doing it the right way.

Rovers are having a bit of a crack but it doesnt help when you lose two of your top 5 from the year before.

My ladder at this stage
Albury
Wang
Raiders
Myrt (can't play as poorly as last year again)
Yarra
Lavi
North
Rovers
Wodonga
Corowa

Same granny as last year, with the same result likely if Albury dont resolve a couple issues. The likelihood of Lach Howe playing most games the only reason i have left Yarra in the finals, surely they will pick a couple up before the season starts...

Lavi to drop that far off? I thought this new coach was a gun and brought a couple with him?
Raiders' press and run will cause carnage so a good pick for third.
Myrt can play poorly again. Hopefully they don't.
Rovers will surprise a few teams in 2018. But third from bottom is a good tip; onwards and upwards for them. Hopefully Stone is able to come back and play some good footy when he gets back.

Tim Cooper gone from the Pigeons- back to home club Tungamah. Been a good servant.

Jack Nunn and Dickson will be hard to cover Curry. Be very interesting to see how the players adapt to a new game plan if that dour rubbish Saker served up for so many years is scrapped.
Cooper another of the nice guys moving on, was always good to watch in my experience.

Where is Nunn and Dickson going ?

I think Albury have resolved one big issue by signing Dean Heta. Newton just kicked 8 in a close Grand Final. If that can be changed to 4 or 5 on the day it can certainly make a big difference.

Positive i read about Dickson in the border a while back but cant remember the destination.

Excellent point Fruit. Still havent replaced the full forward have they?
And the major issue i see is that they desperately need to move on Oddball from the ruck. I know they went to drastic lengths with Yack to release him from a contract, but he was the weak link in 3 of the 4 times i saw them play.

Who is Alburys second string ruckman now that Dower has gone?

With North Albury recruiting Isaac Muller as well as Jesse Johnstone last year and John Willis the year before. Where does this leave Josh Lloyd?
They have a pretty tall side and Lloyd hasn't set the world on fire. Does he get a game?

Will 2 of these play key positions? Johnston has been handy forward in recent years. Muller can play key position? Will be interesting to see how they set up. One thing they have lacked in recent years is height and big bodies they have definitely rectifying this of late.
