So 2018 is upon us. How does everyone think teams are shaping up?? I’ll have a stab -
ALBURY - Have kept losses to a minimum and added Dean Heta and former captain Charlie Gaylord who is a star. I expect they will be hard to beat once again. Mellongton will be hard to cover but I think they can.

MAGPIES - have picked up the Anderson brothers plus the Bloke from Adelaide. Unsure of losses. Team full of locals with the cream added in Newton, speight, grossman. Will be a big chance to defend there crown.

YARRA - haven’t heard much out of Yarra. Has anyone?

LAVINGTON - Pick up the coach from Ainslie who will be a very handy player you would think. Meredith back possibly. Loose nunn, Harris, sharp, K Garland and a few others. Interesting to see how lavi go with a new game plan.

RAIDERS - Dimizio is a huge blow. Have lost some depth players to the district leagues. Signed a young forward from Mt Gravitt. Could finish anywhere between 3rd and 6th I believe.

MYRTLEFORD - Argueably the let down of season 2017. Obviously lose Brad Murray to retirement. Haven’t heard much else about the saints. Surely they will be eager to atone for 2017.

WODONGA - By the sounds of it have lost half their side. Hodgkin left to the cross town rivals and it’s all gone down hill from there.

ROVERS - Young side who struggled last year. Have lost stone but pick up raven and Marklew. Hopefully for them natural improvements with their kids makes them more competitive.

HOPPERS - Had to recruit well and have. Arguably the recruit of the off season to date with West Adelaide captain Chris Schmidt committing. Muller and Mahady add to their lack of height aswell as several other recruits. Only notable loss is Ben Lloyd to uni. Big improver for mine.

Corowa - have recruited a gun from the GV and former captain back from Wagunyah but have lost some of their brightest prospects. We’re a long way of even North Albury last season. Hopefully they can be competitive.

I could be completely wrong on some teams but thought I would spark abit of convo on the page. Not long now to round 1.
Pretty good review in my opinion.
I think Nth have recruited well but will still be bottom 4.
Rovers don't seem to be even trying which isn't a bad thing. They just seem to be content putting 21 kids out on the paddock each week.
Wodonga have lost close to 30 players if reports are accurate. They could be horrible. No Seiter, Hodgkin, Murray and Johnston who were clearly their top 4 players in a side that hasn't made the finals for a decade.
Corowa is an unknown. Seems to be a few ins and outs and the standard is hard to judge. If the full forward goes then it could be very tough again for them.
Raiders will be strong in the midfield with the addition of Hodgkin and the return of Filo from injury. Height will still be a big factor. Di Mizio played tall even though he's not that big so his loss is huge.
Saints are a tricky one. I know employment is an issue in a small town so a lot of players have to travel. The thing with that though is that means training is inconsistent. Seems to sum them up.
The rest I don't care too much about. Bored with the top sides. Wang doing what they did helped though.

All this talk of wodong losing so many who are the players and where have they all gone?? What’s the reason behind them leaving as well

Albury have now picked up a Key Back and a Key forward along with some gun mids. Puts them back as favorites again in my book.

This g

This guy is small forward half forward flank. Definitely no key forward.
“While only small in stature, he has held down full-forward for the club over the past four years and done so with aplomb.”

Perhaps you’re right but FF is a key position.

Oh well at least they are signing players and keeping lawton is a big plus..
North Albury will improve u would think
Bulldogs saints and rovers not doing much recruiting
Will bulldogs have a 2nds team lost a lot of players has anyone got a reason why the players have all left is it a club thing or just Bush clubs chasing there players

Outsider looking in, but maybe Fulford doesn't have the support he thought he had? Or all the boys only wanted to play underneath Harding.

I heard that Harding and Fulford were jointly responsible for re-signing players for next season like most clubs do but both neglected to get to it and as everyone now knows in footy circles that it’s open slather at the end of a season and if a player is unsigned you are in trouble.

There been nothing on this page for 11 days. Has everyone lost interest in the O&M. Even the O&M Facebook doesn’t have much info. What can be done to get people keen again.

Practice matches will start, then the season and if Albury fall away then everyone will be happy and interest will grow again.

North Albury look like they're going to march up the ladder. Clem Smith will give their back line a 'massive' boost.

Couple of whispers at the nest as well which will come to light soon enough...

Melville obviously being one, what else from the nest?
